What is your one favorite race in the game?

I know most people love to play different races, but if you could pick just only ONE race which you identify with most, or if all the others became unavailable, which one would you probably choose, and why (lore, racials, appearance, etc.)?

The Darkspears because they were forced out of their lands multiple times but finally found purpose in the nation of Durotar which they share with other peoples and I relate to this story. Finally finding a homeland and cooperating with other peoples to build it after having been exiled and chased so many times. Vol’jin not being afraid to stand up against a corrupt Warchief was cool too and I still regret not getting the Darkspear Revolutionary title (my computer I had was so bad it couldn’t really handle WoW at the time so I quit playing)

The who? I’m surprise that people still remember who they are after the Horde got the Zandalari.

i don’t know, there is something about them that i always liked.

Definitely trolls. Between the playable ones I can’t choose between the Zandalari and the Darkspear at this point but if I had to, I’d probably lean towards Darkspear.

Quilboar. But unfortunately they’re not playable, so I will fall back on Humans. Their only real fault is the lack of Shaman, but with the rest of their classes, transmog, kingdoms, and numerous factions, I could spend a lifetime on alts from every single kingdom.

The Kaldorei. I connected with them immediately back in 07 when I knew nothing about the game or their lore. Elves just had that fantasy element that other races don’t always have. Then their starting zone was just beautiful. I took to it immediately unlike when I tried a human.

Dwarves. Despite the Scottish accents Blizzard always saddles them with, I usually enjoy their antics and could relate to them (especially when they’re defending their friends or loved ones).

Darkspear will always have the distinction of being an OG Horde race and therefore be near and dear to our hearts.

Blood Elves on the other hand might get a dent in their population by the Zandi trolls (especially the paladins). At least that is my hope.

God I hope.

Blood elves. The starting zone, the music, it was all so beautiful. The questing made you really feel their struggle and desperation at that point, especially the blood knight bits. I just got really invested in their storyline at that point.

The only other race I really got that feeling with was the Forsaken, which is a close 2nd.

The who? Oh the Jay Leno chin having Orange Country plastic surgery trolls.

Unnecessarily catty, even for you. Darkspear are better than pompous racist trolls who swagger that their kingdom is the greatest on Azeroth, yet it’s really just one jungle - part of it is a desert where they send people they hate, and another is a swamp they’re afraid to go to cause they die instantly.

They may be better but without Vol’jin propping them I’m afraid they are well on their way to being 100% overshadowed.

By what? The trolls led by Queen Mary Sue after their interesting King died in a raid? Who the Horde really only had their eyes on cause of their boats? Boats that are now destroyed and gone? You think Vol’jin was the only thing that made the Darkspear - a people who have been a core part of the new Horde since its inception in Durotar - interesting?

That’s some Grade A delusion. Even for you.

Orcs, obviously. We got some of the best lore, we awesome characters, we got a good redemption story to make us less monstrous in the end(until WoD kinda threw it all into the the trash), we get the biggest shoulder pads, the Orc clans are cool and unique, each with their own identity and specialized skills (Thunderlord; Hunters/Beastmasters, Blackrock; Weapons/Armor production, Warsong; Wolf riders, Burning Blade; Blademasters, Bleeding hallow; Blood magic/Oracles, Shadowmoon; Sages, Astrology, Shattered Hand; Rogues/Assassins, poison crafting, scouts, Frostwolfes; Survivalists, Shaman, ect.)

I just really wish they’d bring back the clans, they were really what made the Orcs stand out.

Imo the Zandalari have those elements that that made the Darkspear interesting, but the Zandalari do it better.

What elements? Swaggering and blustering? Building really big cities that topple over if you poke them with a stick? You haven’t given any examples, you’ve just been unnecessarily antagonistic towards someone with a preference to Darkspear - a race which I still see a large margin of people playing and preferring.

Hell… you’re more of a Male Human Paladin than I am at this point.

Draenei, just the regular ones and not the lightforged one(those guys kinda give me the creep to be honest). I like how the draenei have always tried their best to be benevolent. Their whole virtue of service is certainly admirable.

For playable?

The Trolls easily. The voices, the theme, the Loa, their magics, all of it.

Overall?

The Mantid. Bug races have always been a draw to me and the Mantid were just such a charming bunch of insects with their blunt and aggressive personalities. They let you know right off the bat that you were a tool to them, but at least a few of the Paragons warm up to you by the time SoO rolls around. Kil’ruk even taking the time to give us his warning was what sold me on them. His death quote hurt me more than killing Kovok.

“Well fought Wakener. We will meet again…”

You would know if I were being antagonistic, trust me that isn’t it. Nothing I say would change is position, I was simply giving my opinion on the Darkspear being overshadowed by the Zandalari.

As for examples, loa worship, assistance from loa, cities/architecture, and culture to name a few.

You were not just giving an opinion. You were devaluing Spuddyc’s opinion on a favorite race by going “LOL, DARKSPEAR DUMB, ZANDAS BETTER”

Stop Male Human Paladining. Sad day when I’m a better Horde than you.
