Hey guys, I’m going to go goblin mode for classic and I’m wondering your views on what class / specs can farm the most money in an hour late game. Any method is acceptable be it farming devilsaur leather solo as a warlock, arcane crystals as a miner, running late game dire maul, grouping as a five man for instances, etc.
Let me know your highest GPH. I used to do great as frostmage pack farming in WPL getting epic drops but I’d like to know anyone / everyones take.
Hunters and Mages are really good are farming. Hunters can kill things quickly and safely and have little downtime, and can move around at high speeds without mounting up.
Mages can AoE farm and are able to clear low-level dungeons like SM for cloth and greens with zero difficulty. They have a bit of downtime but make up for it with being able to kill a lot of things at once. I dont remember my highest GPH on my Mage but it took me maybe a week of farming off and on to get my epic mount.
Max out a hunter then run you booty over to Maraudon and solo princess runs, zero competition, profit based on your own ability to clear through the dungeon. Just you, your pet, and that beeeaaaauuuutiful princess.
Yep. I don’t care for hunters enough to actually raid or PvP with one. But I will likely be leveling one alongside my main and primary alt for that delicious gold farming.
Mage selling portals and/or aoe farming for cloth. Then making tailor items in order to disenchant them.
I remember groups farming strat for righteous orbs back in the day. Doing a round robin loot for the orbs so everyone gets one. They sold for a chunk and usually 3-7 dropped per run so you could get two of them from a single run if you were lucky.
There was a shortage of living essence on my realm back in the day and I farmed the tar pit things in Ungoro for some gold on my shaman.
Hunter. Not only are you the best class for farming, but there isn’t a flask that helps you on raids, and mongoose+mage blood is way cheaper. Also, the fact that you won’t die on most wipes is like a free 10-20g/hour while raiding in consumables not lost and repairs not needed.
Within the first month of Vanilla level sized server populations, the economy will be pretty slow to build up, so items will be cheap and no one will have cash to buy with.
Hunters and some other classes will still have Princess Runs to farm with, but AoE farming lashers will be unavailable, and even then really depends on the price of herbs to get large gold/hour.
I plan on leveling my rogue faster than my shaman main (whom I will play almost elusively with my group) to get him to 60 to pick pocket and mine/smelt dark iron – essentially just live inside BRD.
Whats nice is pick pocketing neither depends on the server economy itself to turn high profit g/hr nor will it be in the harshly nerfed state that its is in pserver-land.
Further, we’ve already seen that auto looting will be a now toggle-able option in game. And while that may mean very little or nothing at all to most people aside the most dire of “#No-Changers” who will demand everyone use an addon or spam shift click… for rogue there is an actual huge boon. Having auto loot on will likely speed up pick pocket runs drastically by not having to actually loot the pick pocketed enemies via the window or w.e.
So yeah, Best late game gold class for me is a rogue. I can just turn on a linked-in learning session or podcast of my choice while I spend all my time resetting BRD for easy uninterruptible gold income. No worry about pvp, competition or RNG. Just pick pockets and look for opportune sources of dark iron.
I nomrally just herb plagueblooms and mountian silverage I might try and do the Diremaul farm thing again if i can find a healer who has mining, but herbing, and just doing whatever has always made me enough gold to be fed.
Honestly, I think people are forgetting how much less there was to buy in vanilla. Unless you’re planning on farming gold to buy raid loot in gbid pugs, sell gold, or you’re a class that’s going to have to constantly respec, it’s basically 900g for an epic mount, a handful of boes, and flasks for progression raiding.
Unfortunately, the people who have to respec all the time are going to be the people who have to respec in order to farm gold for respecs. #2 reason to farm w/ a hunter or mage is that they can farm, group, raid, and pvp in the same spec.
I’ve never capped a rogue in all 15 years - is it really that good? I was gonna main a Rogue/Mage not only to avoid hybrid tax but to make money. If it is I think it would be a sweet way to do it, don’t even need to worry about dying.
I rarely buy off the AH, my mounts are Hearthsteed and Lucid Nightmare exclusively and with all my alts I have every conceivable consumable I need. But that’s just me - Mr loner in a guild that’s been dead for years
