Title states the question: all of us have our opinions on what we want Classic to be. What announcement/implementation would kill the deal for you?
Personally, the excitement I feel toward the potential ability to play my old WoW is tremendous, and I just can’t wait. I haven’t played since WotLK, so I’ve been out for a while, and my one deal breaker is this sharding technology. I crave the isolation and community of Vanilla servers, and if that is somehow removed, then I think that would be my deal breaker.
How about yall?

Nothing really, I will loudly voice my opinion about quite a few things but I will play Classic in whatever state its released. I have a problem.

Not many dealbreakers and none of them are likely to happen.
Sharding beyond the launch period would be one yes.
All sorts of modern “looking for” systems would be another.
Cash shop with anything more than pets would be one.
Cross realm zones for sure.
Many others that I am against but not be a dealbreaker on their own but I won’t go listing them here.

I am at least going to try the game no matter what… what has me stay for while or not is up to how they do things.

For me it’s not really what blizz does. It’s much more about how good the community turns out to be.

Cross realm zones would be my deal breaker. I believe that had the most negative impact effect on the game out of all changes over the last 14 years, because suddenly you were getting grouped with people that you’d never see again, and players became far less sociable.

I know it isn’t the case, but if they somehow implemented their behavior of handing out epics like candy on Halloween, I’d be much less interested.

The release of Classic fixes what I hate about retail. The removal of content really trashed the game. So as long as all the $#!t they took out, is put back. I will love it.

Forced server resets, forcing us into Burning Crusade, or any content introduced which was never in vanilla that includes new gear better than vanilla BiS gear.

LFG, LFR.
Normal and Hard mode versions of dungeons/raids, and corresponding multiple versions of the same gear.

Sharding does not remove that. No more than entering an dungeon does that.
Cash shop, wow Tokens, linked sub
Except everyone knows instances are setup that way. The world is not and should not be that way.

I honestly don’t understand that as a deal breaker for people.
What does that have to do with my post? I was pointing out the misrepresentation of sharding. Not stating an opinion on use.
The comment I quoted comes off as if the person believes sharding includes cross realm. Which is incorrect.
