The first 3 are non-answers that do absolutely nothing to explain why 10/13 of the melee specs deserve MS but the other 3 don’t. The last one is completely untrue and delusional, but I can see why forum players would think this because none of you even actually play the game

I’d give anything as a BOOMY to have a ret give me freedom off CD. Sanc and bops not included, just the freedom alone is an absolute game changer in kiting.
There’s a reason every boomy player LOVES hpals when hpals aren’t awful. The ability to ignore melee zug for a bit, comboed with utility is absolutely insane.
If you now gave me an MS on top of that freedom, the only reasonable thing Boomy/ret (or really ret/any wizard) loses to is themselves or mirrors, because the wizard now has the ability to create constant pressure and have a reliable mana wincon while still having extremely lethal burst windows.
The first 3? More like 2/3, because Ret having utility alone is an absolute game changer. Every single season ret has been even viable it’s better the best spec in the game bar none.
You can look at Crimson as a simple case proof of this. Ret was nearly unplayable until its rework. It gets reworked and if you didnt play with it you griefed. Even after nerfs you still played with it because the utility was absolutely insane. I had a choice that season of playing with one of the best warriors of all time, on his main, and just farming the ladder, or play with his ret he picked up 3 days ago (Surprise, ret/boomy > war/boomy because I couldnt die through the utility).

I’ve always been of the thought that any permanently existence MS is boring and generally bad for the game while talents like hemotoxic (properly tuned) and sharpen were better for the game.
I think having access to a more meaningful, short duration big MS that has skill cap to how it’s used is way healthier than just executing some rudimetory rotation that randomly makes healers have to heal through 25% more.

ret is actually the most broken melee with its utility, but it’s not dominant because of lacking an MS.
