So Thrall has this inspiring background, led his people to many great victories, and then, what? He had a mid-life crisis and decided to retire and hang out with all the billionaires of Azeroth? He’s hob-knobbing with the Alliance trust-fund kids and celebrities? Is there a Martha’s Vinyard or St. Barts or something on Azeroth where all these folks hang out together?
Now he’s getting therapy from his dead mom? This guy used to lead armies and built a city out of the dirt, but now he’s just doing some side quests in Korthia like the rest of us?

I think it’s because Chris quit… I’m not sure. I do miss him. The alliance has multiple powerful leaders and the horde had Sylvanas who left and Thrall is in retirement.

He didn’t want to end up as another dead/evil Horde leader.

Poor Thrall lol. My man just wants to retire and live his best elder life, maybe get a side piece or two. Garrosh, and now Sylvanas. He just can’t win
It kinda became too much for him. He wouldn’t even be back if it wasn’t for Saurfang. He was content spending the rest of his days on some remote farm with crops of questionable quality.

The time has come for Baine.

Just picture it: Baine shows up at the end of SL, horns splintered, a scar lining up his left eye, and there’s only one thing on his mind–revenge. But alas!! He’s still just a moo, and he must be milked for other side content.
Atleast they left the door open for voljin and thrall to get a comeback the best alliance leader got disenchanted the runner up is so op hes basically a god cant be used the runners up are insane and sloppily written.
Its so bad they had to turn torq into irongome and we still dont have any new cities that arent contested. To make alliance interesting they had to kill off darkshire and make a senario for scourge invasion of lakeshire for bastion.

Metzen (Voice of Thrall) had a mental breakdown and left Blizzard.

In short:
- He carries massive amounts of guilt. He blames himself for Garrosh.
- Chris Metzen is no longer at Blizzard.
Story wise, he was forced to step down as Warchief, during the Cataclysm, because the Shaman part in him sort of got woke, and he was tasked with saving Azeroth.
After such a spiritually changing experience he couldn’t go back to governing and everything that it entailed. Very understandable and logical.
To top it off, he feels responsible for the atrocities committed by Garrosh (he should to some extent), and he removed himself from the spotlight in shame. He only came back because Saurfang coerced him to. To “save” the Horde. He has no intention to lead it again. He’s had a life of war non-stop. He wants a peace that he knows cannot be had.
On real life, Chris Metzen was the absolute main force of writing for most of Warcraft and World of Warcraft. His departure, really put an abrupt end to most of the Warcraft stories because, well… no one else in that company apparently is capable of carrying the torch.
That is why WoW took a DRAMATICALLY different turn, during and post-WOD in terms of story telling and lore. It got more cosmic and more grander than thou, and doesn’t make a lot of sense in the small details when you try to follow it.

Soon he will be hanging out in the Great Dalaran in the sky with the ghost of Khadgar.
When Thrall give me his Doomhammer, i thought he will be fine, he’s enough badass to wield that titanic relic, the Hammer of Creation and start kicking fel booty on Azeroth and Argus.
Remember that bfa cinematic after they save Bain and Jaina touched his arm? Hooooowheeee did the fanbase have conniptions over that. Thrall and Jaina “fan art” had a field day.

Can we kill thrall soon? He’s boring and stupid.

I feel like Thrall’s storyline is now about depression and trying to find himself after feeling like he failed his people. It’s pretty sad when you consider that’s how Chris Metzen felt when he decided to leave. It’s still tiring though, because it’s been dragged on for 3 expansions now and there’s no resolution in sight.
Oh, I remember lol. At that moment, I forgot that Thrall was “married”

Not to mention that with WoD’s Mak’gora cutscene his midlife crisis doesn’t make a lot of sense… he says himself before killing Garrosh that the then Iron Horde Warchief “made his own choices.”.
He’s slowly getting his mojo back. The elements are listening to him again. That’s a good sign.
