It made sense for death knight and demon hunter but I am worried even though we have monks that with this new class they want them all to be a ‘‘hero class’’
It just kinda feels like the magic DK had with it is gone and I feel like some of our classes in game should be hero classes that aren’t if they wanna take this roads
Druids ‘‘could’’ be a hero class but low level druids are a thing so let me talk about my real contestant for a hero class.
Paladin.
A lot of priest ‘‘level’’ up and turn into Paladins. They are legit holy knights that the light has chosen to become a paladin. And it’s heavily implied in lore their connection to the light makes them stronger and is a bit different per paladin.
A hero class seems weird because all of the players are heroes? I mean it wasn’t just the DKs who killed the lich king, and everyone didn’t circle around the DKs going wow what a hero you’re the hero thanks so much hero!
It seems a hero class is given a credit to being stronger/more powerful then other classes. Starting out higher then them and normally converting from a class to that one. This seems like a odd reaction to my post I don’t understand.
I am going off of lore here, not saying all priest are paladins I am having from a in lore POV their ideals for what makes a hero class seems a bit strange and is being used less for lore now and more for marketing.
Hero classes were designed for an adventurer who wasn’t fresh. A DK, canonically, was an already seasoned soldier who died during the war and was hand picked by the LK himself to become a DK. You weren’t some common riff raff citizen who caught a stray saronite arrow and now are a runeblade wielder of the power of death itself.
DHs too were trained extensively by their overrated leader and then captured and put on ice until it was convienant to wake them up to fight the foe they literally were designed to fight.
Monks aren’t a hero class just because they came late to the game.
You’re arguing for what is essentially class advancements. That could have worked once upon a time ago and has to come with the caveat that the “base class” are expected to be fundamentally weak. Like warlocks are mages who decided the rules weren’t for them and fel magic, otherwise forbidden, held too much power and potential to be ignored and sought it despite the rules saying otherwise.
Fun fact, back when DKs were first teased, it was strongly implied or maybe even flat out said you had to actually sacrifice an appropriate level character to become a DK. Like you would go on a questline that led to your canonical death and resurrection as a DK instead of how it ended up being where you just start at that point.
What? Are you talking about Hero Specs? Also “Hero Classes” aren’t exactly special the reason they had that name was because they start at a higher level thats it really.
Yeah it was not that simple Demon Hunters were people who had been victims of the Burning Legion who made the journey to Outland to become a Demon Hunter and get revenge it has nothing to do with them being a certain class before and just losing connection to nature didn’t instantly qualify someone to be a Demon Hunter.
Like the part of the process where most aspiring Demon Hunters fail is when they must face a Demon of the same type that say killed their entire family, kill them and then consume their soul an ultimate test of strength that most failed.
A warrior is a hero but anyone can pick up a sword and become one, or a hunter.
But there is a process to becoming a death knight, and demon hunter. You were someone before and that processed changed your body and mind with it’s power. You see the fel in a demon hunters body or the cold eyes of death in a dk.
Paladins can be hero classes, we see that in legion with the lightforged. But it took on the form of race but there is a human one too.
The light can purify us to the point we are nothing but a weapon of light. So it makes sense to me we should be able to see that in a clearer way.
They were a class before though, they just had a reason to go and consent to the change. I’m not sure how this has anything against my point.
Pretty sure any elf was allowed to be a dh under illidan, if they could survive that is.
At what? A paladin doesnt get a title “hero class”? It has always been a marketing device. Maybe you’ll get a new boost in midnight for paladins only called “Hero Paladin boost”.
I already have a max level paladin. I have no idea why you are being so strange about this.
Also from this tread: it seems a lot of you never gave any thought into what a hero class even was lore wise and just really read the title and never thought deeper. Not a insult but it makes this topic depressingly obvious that if none of you even understand what it is truely, and it’s already became less in DL then there is no topic to really talk about
