What is this pathetic lag?

Blizzard do you test your new patches on the PTR anymore? What is this?

No one get’s on the PTR hardly so it’s going to be quite a bit different on live.

delay was so bad just logged off. Fine though, all there is is the story quests which were just boring anyway

They turned wow into a turned based game this patch.

its almost like the servers can only handle so much traffic.

There was plenty of PTR but they have nowhere near the traffic. This happens every new content release I can remember.

It’s not a complaint of “didn’t you test this” but a complaint of “how do we have 100 servers and they’re somehow the worst performing in the genre”. Which they then explain has to do with old code that can only handle so much and there’s nothing they can do…

Then after 1-2 days it’s all fine and we ignore it since world pvp is dead so we don’t get 40 v 40 open-world (which yes causes the same lag) so it’s just not an issue again until the next content update.

Idk what my point is here…but there ya go.

Testing what? Are you guys new around here?

This is pretty darn good for a 2004 release

Whose trachea do we have to Spear-Hand-Strike to remind them that sharding exists and should be used?

Do you do PTR testing?

PTR load will never match live load until enough people are on PTR servers to adequately mimic a full server.

They have top men working on it.

Top Men

I have been leveling a new hunter because altiholicism and I notice the looting and quest grabbing is very laggy but I just thought because I was on Moonguard on a new patch night.

its noticeable, just takes an extra second or so to register looting etc
combat seems fine

Yep having lots of lag. Took a break. Gonna give them sometime to fix it.

I believe the term you’re looking for is over population by excited gamers to get an early jump on the new patch. Usually, they’re probably aren’t more than a couple thousand people logged in at one time. However, I would imagine in this case there were probably closer to 10,000 people on every server just to see the new content the minute it was available. putting 10,000 people in one small area is going to create some lag.

The performance of warcraft is generally better after everyone has quit.

So if your friends are talking about quitting, do not try to dissuade them. The game will be much more playable with them out of the picture.

All kind of things get overlooked or not taken care of in beta or ptr.

Saw plenty of players talking about issues on ptr via forums and in game.

Server pop plays alot into this.

We’ve got players in countless numbers as is,then add in everyone who stopped in S1 and are just coming back to start twards S2.

What that does is add in more players on servers, ie more sever traffic, which in return will cause lag issues.

Not overlooking your post but, this will happen right after a patch like this and everyone bum rushing the servers.

Lag happens at the beginning of a patch. These zoom zoom cars probably ain’t helping anything lag wise lol! But maybe it could be out of date add-ons as well. Possibly just a big combination of things. I’m betting it gets better soon.
