Ele and Enh are the two most convoluted cumbersome specs in the game atm.
What did you do to this class?? It’s not fun to play atm, i dont care what people say. Hit 12 buttons and wait for procs to line up for dmg windows. Isn’t this what you just removed from paladin? And you put it all in shaman.
The new animations, the P Wave change, the stupid rotation. It’s convoluted and cumbersome. I need two computers worth of keybinds to make sure I have everything out.
I think Ele is the one they screwed royally. Haven’t heard anything bad about enhance.
They screwed up Ele without a single peep as to why and I’m not talking about their half@$$ developer note on the patch notes. I’m talking about real engagement with the community in taking about it!! Pwave sucks !!
The only thing I don’t like about enh pwave is that it’s locked behind flame shock. Like if it hit ur target AND any targets with flame shock I think it would feel a lot better
Primordial wave, farseer, molten totem simply isn’t worth taking anymore in PVE. Just take those three points, put them in enhanced lightning rod, echoes of great sundering and thunderstrike ward,go stormbringer, and forget that flame shock and lava burst even exist. Only use flame shock when you get an icefury proc. Lava burst is never worth pressing unless you get a lava surge after ascendence or a lucky surge after an icefury->flame shock (and it’s a single target fight). In keys lava burst will be basically dead to you.
Simply just spam lightning and spend maelstrom when capped. This is the BiS rotation now with the ridiculous PW nerf. Elemental was perfect the way it was and they need to put back because the new playstyle is absolutely braindead.
Enhance owns, its extremely fun. The adjustments they made to totemic and stormbringer have made it much more fluid, and the changes to prim wave (for enhance) were great, simplified its usage. The spec tree changes were also fantastic.
I don’t play enhancement all that much, but it seems relatively alright.
Elemental however? Since they F’d around with Primordial Wave and made a few unnecessary tweaks in other places, it feels garbage.
Utmost, major desire for Elemental Shaman:
100% hoping they change Pwave back to how it functioned in season 1 for elemental
Minor desired bonuses for Elemental Shaman:
To change Ascendance back to how it was in season 1
And to also revert the Deeply Rooted Elements talent back to how it was in season 1.
Mild Cosmetic Changes –
I’m not too concerned over the cosmetic changes, but it’d be nice for them to give glyphs, quests or class trainer to decide between how they want their ‘Lightning bolt’ to look (old animation VS new) so that way the players at least have the variety of choice, whether or not they’re a fan of the cosmetic changes made to the ability.
??? Like pre-anniversary? How did Asc change in the .1 patch? And isn’t DRE better now than before?
Obviously they wanted to change how PW functions and this was a big swing and miss. I don’t think they are going to change it back just because that would put the same effect on 3 different points on the talent tree. Asc, DRE, and PW. I think they’ll end up just putting a new effect on the spell as part of a new follow-up talent next to Splintered Elements possibly replacing Magma Chamber.
Lightning Bolt is no longer a cosmetic issue, it is mechanical. They wanted it to have a travel time like similar spells on other caster specs. That’s fine.
The talent ‘Deeply Rooted Elements’ lost its bad luck protection. Its chance now scales off of the amount of Maelstrom Maelstrom spent on the respective spender, functionally reverting the behavior to its version in 10.0 and earlier. This significantly increases the specs variance and volatility, amplifying the “feast-or-famine” nature of the talent.
Ascendance now absolutely requires a target to cast.
You can no longer cast ascendance in preparation for a surprise mob or a to-be-unstealthed audience / swiftly approaching cluster of enemies (Previously you could pop ascendance followed by Stormkeeper so the ability would maximise its overload potential).
It’s not a “major” change, but it did make quite a significant difference – Especially to M+
Hence to why I placed it in the ‘Minor Desires’ section of my former comment on this thread
The Elemental Talent Tree didn’t change in Undermine(d), so there’s no risk posed upon the subject of talents.
So ultimately, they can revert it back with significant relief & celebration from the elemental shaman community with little to no fallout.
And they should revert Primordial Wave back for elemental.
This honestly isn’t too much of a big deal since in 95% of cases, you’re going be targeting something when hitting Ascendance. Also I don’t understand what you are talking about regarding Stormkeeper since as of current function, Stormkeeper functions the same way regardless if you do Stormkeeper > Ascendance or Ascendance > Stormkeeper. Also using Stormkeeper after Ascendance will lead to a loss since you’re eating time you could be casting spells that can overload channeling Stormkeeper. If you are playing Farseer, you would want to Pwave prior to Ascendance then utilize a spell that can overload to consume Ancestral Swiftness in order to get them on relatively the same CD in single target or in multi-target use Ascendance to get multiple Flame Shocks out and then hit Pwave and consume Ancestral Swiftness afterwards. Using Stormkeeper anywhere besides prior to using Pwave in the single target sequence or prior to Ascendance in multi-target would simply waste time during Ascendance, reduce the potency of the Ancestors you just summoned, or potentially desync Pwave from Ancestral Swiftness.
This is important. While the change to making DRE’s chance to proc based on Maelstrom spent is good on paper, it would be nice if we still had some bad luck protection in some form.
I don’t the Lava Burst cleave itself is the reason they changed it because it causing your next Lava Burst to cleave fundamentally synergies with Ascendance since you’d hit PWave into Ascendance into Lava Burst. If they did care about it, then they would simply remove Ascendance firing Lava Bursts and only having it apply Flame Shock to your target and 5 others. Them changing Pwave during the 11.0.5 rework to grant Lava Surge largely supports this because it made playing Pwave with Stormbringer significantly smoother since prior to that change you needed to hardcast your Lava Burst after Ascendance which felt bad given the number of hard casts Stormbringer had compared to Farseer. Lava Burst also makes sense given how Farseer is setup with talents giving Lava Burst another charge, boosting its damage, and Ancestral Swiftness affecting Lava Burst. The sequence in either scenario also flows well with Stormkeeper since in single target you’re going to Lava Burst anyways to have MotE before you cast one of your empowered Lighting Bolts or spend Maelstrom and in AoE it provides your first empowered Chain Lighting with MotE. I also believe that Erupting Lava was designed in mind with being paired with Pwave providing Lava Burst cleave. Without it, it largely seems to not have any use.
I don’t think they would realistically do that without reworking the tree. Enhance was able to accomplish the change and add Primordial Storm to tree by removing Primal Maelstrom from the tree and baking it into Pwave and moving Splintered Elements its spot as a 2 point node leaving the talent tree and the talent point budget unchanged for the post 20 point set. If they were to replace Magma Chamber with a Primordial Storm type ability, it would further tighten talent point flexibility. In cases you wanted to grab LMT as Farseer then it would further tighten the talent point budget given we’re already dropping things like Swelling Maelstrom to grab some of the Elemental boosting abilities, something we were doing already in Season 1 after the Farseer buffs in December. They could move Pwave to Flame of the Cauldron and bump down Splintered, put the new talent above it, then stick LMT above that but that still would tighten the talent point budget.
Newb enhance shammy. Struggling a lot. It’s not beginner friendly at all. I try out new specs all the time but I am lost in this rotation. Especially with the new PM wave grey out.
Please Blizz do something to simplify this spec’s rotation a little bit. I had a lot of fun lvling my shammy but this ain’t it.
It is pretty simple but not every spec in the game has to be beginner friendly to be fair. I dont think you should be able to log onto a spec for the first time and immediately know what to do, at least not for every single spec in the game. There isn’t too much convoluted about enhance, and there are some guides out there that can help you figure out what to do. Stormbringer is more simple than totemic though if you want to start off with less to worry about.
The rotation takes practice. I do not play Storm as Enhance, I have been Totemic the entire time. I will admit that spec is not newb friendly, but it is also not daunting once you get a hang of the opener.
Totemic for S2 is the Elementalist build, or Fire build. Stormbringer is the Lightning build. As I said, I am full Totemic, even in S1 I was using a Storm style build for Totemic but now I will be Fire style.
Just watch some vids, and hit the target dummies. Then go out in the world, and try it. You will get the hang of it, and it is plenty fun. I look forward to using the Fire/Elementalist build this season. It should literally be a “blast”
