What is the worst expansion in WoW's history?

My list is

  1. BFA
  2. WoD
  3. MoP

And my favorite are

  1. Wrath
  2. TBC
  3. Vanilla

Cata is when it was all downhill for me. The moment you decided to restrict to a single talent tree while at the same time drastically reducing the amount of talents per tree every 2 levels instead of 1, I was heated. But MoP was even worse entirely, they completely took out talents and gave us what we have today. This braindead ‘choose one out of three options’.

Now gear doesn’t even matter. Stats don’t matter. Level doesn’t matter. Professions don’t matter. They gutted the whole entire game lmao.

What about you? What’s your worse expansion and why?

Wod is an expansion that I burned out thanks to the asinine balance philosophy that compounded my WoWhood during this expansion… and my friend was teasing about it that haunts me to this very day.

BfA is close to it even though I came back for it and… I gotta say, it doesn’t feel like our time is respected for this expansion at all.

Can’t think of any other bad expansions. Everything else was good. Cata was okay. MoP strengthened my friendship with two of my closest friends. Legion was okay too.

Worst:
BFA
WoD
Cata

Best:
Wrath until the group finder stuff was introduced. completely killed community
Legion
MoP

I didnt think anything could take the crown from WoD as worst, but they somehow did it with BFA.

Wrath was great until the group finder, Legion was fun probably because it was our escape from how crap WoD was, the lore behind some of the weapons was nice too. MoP was great for class balance even though the original talent trees went away. Wasn’t perfect but a lot of people felt that it was the peak of balance. Most people that dislike MoP just dont like it because they were born after WC3 came out and think its tied to kung fu panda.

MoP is easily my favorite- if only because I enjoyed each and every class I played.

I’m going from the ones I played start to finish so…

  1. WoD- it wins because of one thing… The selfie patch.
  2. BFA- I hated it truly. It’s probably my least favorite on a personal level, but at it at least had content.
  3. Cata- Not awful it was my starting. I just didn’t like it like MoP or Legion.

*Edit- forums won’t let me count backwards so.)

WoD. Only WoD. WoD was basically sit in your garrison and do nothing it was boring it was dull and had absolutely no content.

BFA is the absolute worst. Followed by WoD of course.

BFA had only trash, everything was sluggish and boring. WoD had some good stuff including the best leveling experience to date but it was so stupidly empty with little to do.

And yet you’re still here. Imagine that.

WoD is the number 1,2,3, and 4 spot.

I came back for Legion more than I did for WoD or BFA.

But I’d go with BFA, just with how poorly thought out the Corruptions system was.

It was also alt poison.

Am I the only one who didn’t mind bfa? Outside of corruptions it really wasnt that bad…

Bottom 3:

  1. WoD
  2. BfA
  3. Legion

Top 3:

  1. MoP
  2. BC
  3. Cata

Not any really specific reasons I can give other that I liked, or didn’t like, an expansion.

I feel like as the most recent expac, BFA has a lot of new fresh hate. I think it’ll be remembered a bit more favorably in the future. It was, IMO at least a more full expansion than say, WoD.

However, almost all of BFA felt unnecessary or disappointing for me personally

Warlords. It started the annihilation of meaningful progression. It also was the expansion where Pathfinder was introduced.

I don’t really have a favorite but if I had to pick - Pandaland would be at the top of my best of list.

As for worst, it would have to be BFA simply because of 8.3. The cloak and corruptions almost killed the game for me.

It kills me to see all the people who hated MoP. They really don’t know how good they had it.

BFA <-- WoD <<<<-- Legion because of how bad it was the first half <-- Cata <<<-- MoP <-- Vanilla <<-- WotLK <-- BC

The only part of MoP that i enjoyed was the rotation on frost DKs. The sheer amount of burst one class can hold was insane. It felt good playing a frost DK.

But the whole panda aesthetic of the game and the talent removal was a bad wake up call to a lot of players who knew the game was going into a bad direction.

To me BfA was a mediocre expansion. I enjoyed the questing, the various stories (though Sylvanas was a bit wtf?), I actually enjoyed the powers in the Azerote system. Some of the content was messed up, like those assault things, but I found there was a lot of fun things for pally healing, monk healing (omg way of the crane was so fun), especially in under 120 stuff

Worst for me was WoD because of the lack of content, hardcore, and MoP second, because the setting didn’t ever ‘connect’ for me
