What is the story with blood elf eyes?

So we're getting golden eyes in bfa for blood elves. Can someone give me an exact run down of the story of blood elf eyes? Were they supposedly golden before they were fel-green? Is golden a "light" thing? What's the scoop here?
Before they were green they could be any color, like human eyes. Though most commonly they were a glowing blue due to the Arcane energies of the Sunwell.

The fel radiation emitted by the fel energies used during Silvermoon's reconstruction gave then their green eyes.

The revival of the Sunwell through M'uru's spark appears to have turned some of their eyes golden because the Sunwell is now a mix of Light/Arcane energy. I assume the golden eyes are due to the Light part of it.
Blue eyes were from the arcane energies of the first Sunwell.
Green eyes came from absorbing fel energies from demons.
Yellow eyes will come from the holy energy of a naru infused into the sunwell.
And the void elves obviously are full of void....what?

Not entirely. We're told that the majority of Blood Elves didn't tap into Fel at all, and the cause of the populace's widespread green eyes was mostly just the result of Fel radiation during Silvermoon's reconstruction.

Yeah it's weird, the reason the Highelves left was because of the Bloodelves absorbing fel, but then I hear that kael lied about what is in those giant green floating demon looking gems all over Silvermoon.
Point is fel did it.

The reason the High Elven divide happened according to the Lor'Themar story was because the Blood Elves were sating their addiction by mana-tapping living creatures, which the High Elves opposed, not because of the use of Fel.
Which always seemed like some kind of bizarre retcon, given the massive green fel crystals all over Silvermoon and the green eyes. Seems like Blizzard built a lot of stuff around the fel storyline before pivoting to "actually they're just eating mana wyrms!"
Makes me wonder why Blood Elf eyes haven’t reverted to blue as well.

The High Elves (Blood Elves) were generally highly involved in the arcane magics to the point of it being a necessity, and they were heavily reliant on the Sunwell as a source of for that power. At first, the High Elves eye's were usually of a "natural" color, such as blue or purple, but when Arthas and his Scourge attacked Silvermoon and destroyed the Sunwell, the Elves had to resort to other forms of magics to sate their addiction to that font of power. This is why many elves turned to the fel, willingly, or passively; without a source of power, some elves would eventually turn "Wretched". While some of the elves retained and fought their addiction brought upon by the destruction of the Sunwell, most notably the High Elves of the Alliance, most had used the fel as a way to continue "feeding," and as a result, the eyes of the now called Blood Elves turned green. This brings us to tbc; after the fight with Kil'Jaeden in the Sunwell Plateau, Velen used the heart of a dying Naaru to "resurrect" the Sunwell (Naaru's are heavily attuned with the light). This means that the Blood Elves could resort to the Sunwell once again, and I would assume that this might have an effect on their eye color. Though the fel magic's corruption takes quite a bit of time to wear off, it has been questioned many times why the elves eye's were still green, and thus we have an introduction to yellowish eyes.

Their story is much like those of the Nightborne in Legion; they were reliant on the power given to them by their well, and if they didn't combat that addiction, they would turn "Withered" (well there's much more to the Blood Elf's story than that, but that's sort of the premise). The Blood Elves had to find a way around that for obvious reasons, and instead of the arcandor, they resorted to fel

Void also gives Blue Eyes. Just like Arcane Eyes.

Alleria originally had Emerald Eyes... At the moment she has Aquamarine(Cyan Emerald) Eyes(which is not the Arcane Eye color of Silver Covenant High Elves).

That was a joke, FULL of void. Get it?! Void as in... ok never mind.
I'm always waiting for Blizz to take away Silvermoon and the Sunwell, or give them to the Alliance, or destroy one, or both. Alleria came back and almost destroyed the Sunwell with her presence. She wants both.

I wonder what the story behind the Gold Eyes will be.

Maybe the Blood Elves have to take a chunk of the Sunwell back to Muru's old room because the Alliance is advancing. The original Sunwell came from a vial across the sea, then turned into a person and ran away until the Legion found her. It has proven to travel well.

Or maybe the Blood Elves blow it up and absorb the Holy energy into themselves before they retreat, so Alleria can't have it.

Most likely it is just a good thing, showing the strength and growth of the Sindorei. Things just never seem to be good for the Horde, story wise.

It's not a retcon, just people started out learning how to Manatap living creature, but this didn't really jive well with people, so when elves got their hands on demons, they figured 'hey, this fel stuff is pretty potent, we'll have a little sip of this from this demon. Not like anyone gives a !@#$ about the well being of demons in felcrystals'

So, they did, and then found that a caged up demon was a great power source to keeping a lot of the magical functions of their buildings going, hence all the crystals around Silvermoon. And while not everyone partook in the fel eating, just having those crystals around permeated people enough to change the eye-color.

Also, just to clarify.

ELVES HAVE NORMAL EYE COLORS UNDER THE GLOW. When the Sunwell was freshly destroyed, and the elves didn't have a glowing eye-color, you could see their natural born, non-glowy eye color for a brief time.

Fel magic is a helluva potent thing. Much like the Orcs skin color, it may take a while before the eyes change color
Are the golden eyes even in game for the beta?

yes
The blood elves are the new pet race of Blizzard who can do no wrong. They are led by their feminist icon Liadrin who is perfect in every way and is the champion of standing around and doing nothing. Her mere presence stirs fear in the hearts of men and causes all of those around her to stare in awe and wonder just what this person has done exactly to suddenly be so important.

After the Sunwell was restored, the blood elves excised their negative traits in the form of the void elves, because they no longer wanted to be interesting anymore. So now they sport golden eyes just like their leader Liadrin, who every blood elf aspires to be like. Did I mention that Liadrin is a strong female character?

She is the counterpoint to void goddess Alleria. Who could channel and absorb the void energies that Sargeras feared. She can hear the void and not be turned into a lunatic because she’s that tough.

She’s the feminist icon, because she’s married but still did her own thing, child, what child? He didn’t get in the way of her career in the military. She lead the void elves to safety when they were lead down the wrong path by a stupid male blood elf. Only she knows how to conquer the void.
