What is the storm-touched weapon wrap used for?

I researched for the use of those things and I can’t find an answer for it, even in WoWhead. Nobody comments on it. It seems pointless to waste leather to create it.

Like the name implies, most of the weapons (and one of the shields) use them. Also needed for the Blessed Weapon Grip embellishment if you need that.

So it’s just used to wrap a weapon. I was thinking along the lines of ‘Defender’s Armor Kit’ that a leather worker can create to add enhancement to the legs for any armor. So as a leather worker, I can sell leather wraps at the auction house.
