What is the stat priority for Warlocks? I’m an Affliction Warlock… Thanks
SP
Int
Stam
Nothing else matters.
Spell hit is important too. Not when leveling but when doing any raiding.
PvP or PvE?
PvP it’s spell damage and stamina. They’re about equal. Then spell hit up to cap (3% I think) and spell penetration after that up to at least 60. After that whatever.
PvE it’s going to be spell hit up to cap (16% I think), spell power and spell crit.
You don’t really need much intellect as a warlock for PvE or PvP since you can life tap in most scenarios. Less so in PvP, but still.
I think it’s 5% for pvp. For your dots that’s covered by talents. Good gear generally will get well over the 5% hit cap. For instance in my pvp/open world farming set I have 8% hit and no real way to get lower because I’d be giving up SP to do so lol.
Generally you shoot for 12-14%. Anything less than 10% is a bad idea. And you give up too much crit and spell damage to get hit capped. I believe full bis has only 12% hit. That of course depends on what gear you have access to.
And int is pretty important, as it increases your crit, and the less you have to lifetap the better. Last time I simmed myself 4 int was worth 1 SP. Lifetap is actually a big dps loss. It’s one of the reasons full T2.5 pulls ahead of bloodvine on longer fights.
Yes that’s true. PvP has a totally different stat prio. A lot of the PVE gear is good for PVP but some of the BIS stuff for PVE will get you shredded in PVP. More info is helpful OP or there are plenty of lists out there detailing it.
This really only applies to bloodvine, and some pre-raid bis items. Bloodvine has no stam on it, and the extra hit is essentially a wasted stat in pvp.
OP, for the love of god never ever wear bloodvine outside of raids, it’s terrible for literally every other form of content.
Right, Bloodvine is what I was thinking of specifically, and yes some pre-BIS stuff. It’s mostly about checking the stats on an item and making sure they allow for survivability if you’re PVPing. I worded my post weird actually since it sounded like I was talking about everything but yes I meant mostly that.
If you’re not specced properly, there’s no real point in giving you specific stat weights.
DoTs cannot crit, so if you’re “Affliction” in the sense that you are using DoTs, spell power is literally the only stat that matters. If you’re “Affliction” as in SM/Ruin, then your stat weights are close to this:
SP: 0.53
Int: 0.1
Crit: 6.53
Hit: 7.12
Stat weights change depending on your current gear and stats, but that should give you a rough idea.
It’s 3% for PvP.
Doesn’t increase crit by much. Either way it’s not a stat that you look for as most of the gear you use has int on it anyways.
For leveling? Spellpower > Stam > Int > Spirit.
Charisma is bis
Crit isn’t terribly useful for Aff lock. Its okay, but if most of your damage is coming from abilities that don’t crit, then Stam > Int.
Especially in pvp. Honestly in PVP, stamina can be even more valuable than spellpower to an extent. Ive been hit with opening combos in the 4.5-5k range and I still win the fight because I’m sitting on 6k+ life and I get a chance to take back control.
True, but I guess that depends on your definition of affliction. Is OP full affliction or SM/ruin?
Ah I thought it was 5% for a level 60 target. Either way that is easily achievable with current dungeon gear.
Every 61 int iirc is 1% crit, and in pve means less lifetaps. Sure you dont gear for int, but int is important and shouldn’t just be ignored.
Much depends on playstyle and content you’re doing.
For leveling on a pve realm just stack shadow power /spell power.
On a pvp realm you might mix more stam in
For pvp you want 3 hit, then playstyle choices between crit, Stam, and spellpower. Ideally getting all three on the same item.
I personally aim for 20% crit, 4k+ HP (that was for last tier’s pvp and was already very “glass cannon” the number for this tier will likely be 4.5k+) and as much sp/shadow power as possible. In an ideal world you also snag some spell pen, but that’s more incidental to your drops (and not to presume, but the way you’re asking the question, coupled with the fact that very few guilds are recruiting locks this phase, I’d wager you probably aren’t raiding hard on this lock regardless, so spell pen largely won’t exist for you regardless)
In raid pve, the best answer is to sim it. There will be minor changes in the value of crit and hit depending on your other stats, buffs, and whether you are flasked. I actually haven’t looked at my lock’s stat weights in a bit, but it used to be something around 11sp = 1 crit, 13sp = 1 hit while flasked.
Even with sm ruin it depends it what you’re doing. I dunno about you but I dont typically spam shadowbolt anywhere except group content. For soloing I just dot everything I can without leashing mobs and just wait for it all to die, so the vast majority of my damage is from agony/corruption which kills just about everything with only those two dots. Much more mana efficient than shadowbolting, but less time efficient, depends on how many mobs I manage to pull really.
If you shadowbolt one target at a time, you’ll have a different experience than me and int will be more valuable at that point.
