What is the secret to Stitchflesh hooks?

I don’t get it.

I bring the abom as close as possible to the stage without standing him in the edge pools. I leave a small bar of space for the runner. I hold him there. DPS gets arrow, runs in, hook goes out

Miss.

Why does this fail a good 25% of the time when I swear to high heaven I am positioning him correctly. He’s not too far away, he’s practically (but not literally) touching the stage.

Is stitchflesh’s leaning gurney thing on his left side a line of sight issue? Like, what song and dance do I need to do to get the hooks to work consistently?

he’s too close and is hitting the gurney instead of Stitchflesh

Its the dps fault. He doesn’t need to be that close to the stage either, make sure you aren’t positioning him in bad stuff so that the dps cant stand in the right spot.

Isn’t that too close? Maybe leave a bit of room so people can see the arrow and not be in the stuff.

I cannot tell where the “sweet spot” zone distance is if it’s possible to be too close. Is there anything visual on the floor I can line up with? It seems if I have him any further out than practically touching the stage, it’s too far away and the hook misses again.

Nah, but the hook is rather long, just have him close but not so that you are standing in the goop near the stage.

the hook will stretch all the way from the middle of the room, don’t be scared about not being close enough

Do you know if that gurney thing causes line of sight issues? should i only ever tank the aboms on the right side?

There’s no real reason not to tank realatively central in the room. Can’t say I know if the gurney acts as a block, but it shouldn’t even be part of the equation the vast majority of the time.

you’re doing it backwards then. pull him more to the middle so there’s enough room for the others to actually see the arrow and aim it

My running theory was that it was easier to aim + less likely to be too far out.

yea, the few times i ran that place tank placed boss at center of the room, for hooks dps always got the dude hooked, it has a super long reach so chilling in mid is fine.

The hook is supposed to travel pretty far, but sometimes it bugs out and doesn’t.

It’s luck of the draw with that thing. I’ve run it back to back and had him parked in the same spot both times, worked perfectly the first run but the second I had to move him closer. :man_shrugging:

There’s a pointed logo in the middle of the boss room.

I usually put him right at the bottom point that is pointing towards the stage. It puts the abom a good 40-50 yards from the stage. It also keeps too many green pools from gathering all in one spot.

The only thing that screws that up would be a dps standing in between the hook or a dps not pointing hook in the right direction.

Also, learned if there are two aboms up at once, hook will hook the second abom if its right on top of each other. Have to pull the second abom away while the hooking abom is doing his things to recover a run like that.

Yeah I’ve noticed it still bugs some times. Same with Devos, but neither bug as much as they did at the beginning of the expansion.
