It does so little healing, eats up a GCD, and just kinda seems pointless?
Is there something about it I’m just not getting?

To proc apotheosis from the answered prayers talent, on top of its fire and forget healing with little overhealing.
What if I don’t plan on running that talent?
PoM does an absurd amount of healing. Perhaps it isn’t super high ST, but the amount it does for how much mana it costs makes it worth it. Plus the way it interacts with apotheosis and premonition of insight (if you are using that). Not using it is a mistake.
Is it still worth it without those talents? I plan on running archon because it’s flashy, and I don’t plan on running the apotheosis talent.
It’s free healing. one GCD is a small price to pay for it. It doesn’t feel punchy, and it’s not going to blast someones health up, but the passive healing it does is undeniable.
What talents are you taking instead of that? My archon build takes those talents. Especially in a raiding environment. What content are you planning on doing?
I plan on taking Salvation instead because it sounds cool, and I’m goinna go for Divine Word and Divine Image.
Yea, that’s fine. Go salvation, I also have that. We are talking about the interaction between POM and the talent “Answered Prayers” which is how most people get Images. That will proc Apotheosis even if you aren’t talented into Apotheosis.
Go Answered Prayers instead of Voice of Harmony to Divine Image
Is Apotheosis once every now and then better than a guaranteed lower cooldown on holy words?
It’s fairly often if you keep PoM on CD. In a raid environment, Circle of healing and prayer of healing are so weak, you often will not use them. Therefore, the CD reduction for Sanctify is minimal or not at all present with Voice of Harmony. The ability that reduces the CD of Serenity via the Voice of Harmony talent is PoM (the spell you are not interested in). That means you will likely not benefit from that, either. The Chastise one doesn’t really matter, too much. The random Apoth proc is stronger, imo. You can quickly get your holy words back during an Apoth window. It’s fun to play around if you monitor the Answered Prayers stacks.
In battlegrounds its often first place for healing done, landing heals up to around 900k most games
So Id imagine it being solid for M+ and raids as well
It’s buffed specifically in PvP, but it’s still very good in PvE.
PoM’s upfront healing is currently very lackluster; nowadays the top priests don’t really cast this unless no raid damage is currently ongoing or they have to cast on the move.
Flash Heal and Heal both heal significantly more than PoM with the same/similar execution time(like in the ballpark of 30-100% more), so quite frankly, the latter’s purpose is almost purely to proc Answered Prayers and little else.
Answered prayers nearly always procs after you cast salvation as well, in a raid environment.
Yes. It procs every 1.5 minutes on average in a dungeon if PoM is constantly bouncing around.
It also stacks with regular Apotheosis. You can get a 25s+ duration one going.
