What is the proportion of max level players in Classic

What percentage of players do you guys think got to level 60 during Vanilla? How many of those players had an epic mount? Just curious.

Most made it to 60.

As an avid PVP’r, I didn’t know anyone who didn’t have an epic mount. They were essential to be competitive in battlegrounds.

Depends if you mean most people had 1 L60, or most characters hit 60. The first, I can’t say for sure either way. The second… definitely not a chance.

I knew plenty of people without Epic mounts for the entirety of Vanilla, who only upgraded when the TBC gold started flowing. Hardcore PVPers weren’t your typical player.

I bet:
Less than 5% of created characters got to 60
More than 70% of accounts had at least one
And probably 30% or so that made it to 60 it wasnt their first character.

blizzard said themselves back in the day that only 10% of all characters created ever made it past level 10.
food for thought.

There were stats posted once that shown only ~50% of concurrent players had a 60 on their account. I can’t remember the source of this so take this however you want to.

Sure but I had 8 to 10 characters, only 2 were level 60.

If you PVP’d at all, you got an epic mount. I think (personally) it was harder to get a 40 mount than it was to get Epic.

I thought that was the quote on the Starter Edition? That 10% got past 10 and only 5% hit 20.

It sounds about right, given how many were still starting and trying out WOW at the tail end of vanilla, and how many weren’t in a rush to max level.

I didn’t hit 60, though I was really close, because I was spending more time RPing and on alts, questing with no sense of urgency, and I planned to earn rep for the Winterspring Frostsaber which meant grinding Timbermaw for the pass, and then starting those quests at (I think) 58.

I was probably an outlier, with 3 Horde 60s and 2 Alliance 60s by 2.0.

Then again, I have a 110 of every class and half a dozen druids, so Alting runs deep.

I had one character hit 60 and get an epic mount. That’s one data point for you! Good luck with the rest.

Gotta have my bank alts.

I had 4 60’s in vanilla and none had an Epic mount. I had enough money a couple times. Just did other things with it. I did get 2 when BC hit and it felt like it was more necessary for my chars.

My GnomeBros were all Level 10 Rogues wearing only a black and gold tabard.

(Admittedly all my characters are now in my Bank Guild because I stopped raiding)

I would wager most people never hit 60 in vanilla, considering how many people started late as well as how many people were new to MMO’s. For what it’s worth, I never hit 60 during vanilla, started too late.

I never did as well. Mine was though because it took me at least 30 minutes to move around and do things every time I went to Org at like 3-4 fps. (completely serious, it was bad)

If you’re looking at old data, my guess it still is including the 1892371209836120789361 alts that people had lying about. Which doesn’t actually show anything useful.

I never made it to 60 in Vanilla, just started too late. I didn’t even hit 70 until two months before Wrath was released. Between Warrior leveling being incredibly slow by itself, I was also obsessive about keeping all of my professions leveled with me and keeping the weapon skills maxed.

It’s strange to think that I didn’t really have a “rush to level cap” mentality until I got to cap and started raiding. There really was that much more for me to enjoy from the game before I got hooked on raiding, I guess.

I had 2 level 60 characters before aq came out. Never leveled another in vanilla.
