What is the point of covenant armor?

Why did Blizz did you go through the effort of making unique gear sets for each covenant with set bonus abilities of they will never be useful. I am at renown 9 and the highest you can upgrade a piece to is 164, next week you can upgrade it to 171 but next week the LFR wing opens up so even us casuals will have gear that out paces it. What was the point in making a gear set that will always be sub par?

In a sense, seems pretty fitting for open world type gear. That said…

The sad thing is transmog is covenant based only :(, I wish they removed this restriction.

It’s catchup gear. In 7 weeks when we’re all rank 30 and done with chapter 9, a new alt will be able to run through their covenant story and get a full set of gear that is strong enough to be used as an entry point for all of the available content of the time.

Do understand gear doesn’t drop as much as it used to.

You may just get one singular piece in LFR. That’s it. The covenant armor will make up for it.

The set bonus honestly reads like heirloom gear. That’s how I saw it early on

Transmog, bro! You purchased this fastest selling PC game of all-time and are justly rewarded with a Covenant transmog.

I’m gonna say, they probably will in an expansion or two later (like legion weapon looks).

Cause, my goblin shaman is on the path to look like a spriggan (need a few items from Maldrax and Dreth) while everyone is trying to cosplay hooked on Faunics in Ardenweald.

Xmog!

and more chars for the rule…

Absolutely, how am I supposed to stunt on my enemies if I don’t look fly?

They must have had the tradeskill team design the armor.

I swear every expansion, the gear I can craft is good for a few days at best.

But us ultra casuals that might not run LFR can use it. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Good xmogs are a 25% dps increase

There are lots of us not interested in running instances over and over for gear. There are lots of us without the time to run instances over and over for gear. There are lots of us that like to make alts and can’t/don’t want to run over and over for gear for each one. There are lots of us that just flat out don’t need the best gear in the game and are perfectly happy with “sub-par” gear as long as it gets the job done … oh and transmog!!

Same as rep gear, by the time you earn it you have over geared it anyway and its good for transmog only.

I get that a lot of people are saying transmog but we literally have that option in the QM for color variants. Just seemed a little silly to go through the trouble of attributing stats and a set bonus if it was purely for mogs
