What is the point of 12-month sub?

I mean, it has the same per-month price in my currency. Am i commitig twice as much solely for 2 mounts?

not in mine. if it’s the same price, yeah, not a big advantage.

The mounts are just extras. You’re doing it to play the game for a year.

Yes, assuming you play both Retail and Classic. There’s one mount & one pet for each game variant (not 2 of mounts/pets for both Retail and Classic).

If it was $11.99 USD vs $12.99 USD I’d have considered it…

Really? Which currency is that?

I would save $40 if I got it I guess.

I pay monthly atm

It’s like 40 dollars in savings for me.

No man, monthly is $15… year sub is $13

I think OP meant the 12mo and 6mo subs have the same price-per-month, which is what I see on my account page as well (USD).

Over 1mo or 3mo subs, yes I know there are savings. But over the 6mo there isn’t, you just commit to twice as long for some extra mounts and no actual $ savings.

Hedge against FX / inflation risk.

Its the same as a 6 month sub + a mount which is ~$40USD cheaper.

yeah i wasn’t sure, i read the op the other way but this is true.

The 12 month sub is a statistic for the investors and a short-term money grab for Blizz. You might quit in 10.2 or 11.0 or whatever. The point is, they got your money and you aren’t getting it back. You got a mount? Cool. They got 12 months of your money, even if you only decide to play for 3 months. If those pixels are worth it to you, more power to you! Have a blast on that Mur-Hulk thingy!

If you want, yep. Some people know they’re playing that long. And it’s money for Blizz right up front.

It’s to guarantee they get more money out of you

That’s the honest answer

If you’re going to be subbed for a year anyway, it’s the way to go. If you’re not, it’s not. Don’t think too hard on this one.

I was going to say… The 6 month and 12 month options are the same for me. But then when I signed up in 2004, I immediately signed up for the 6 month option because of the discount. At the time, I had even looked for a 12 month option with a bigger discount. :joy:

Once you count in everything, the money I saved with the lower priced sub from the very beginning (I’ve never unsubscribed) covered buying every pet and mount in the cash shop with extra to spare. I’m super happy I did it.

I don’t play Classic but I received two mounts in Retail from the annual subscription. A giant purple murloc and the moon bear.

Just to be clear, im comparing 6-month sub with 12-month sub, hahah
We always think we will play for that long, but can not be sure. Risking 12 months instead of 6 for a mount seems underwhelming, would gladly pay for 12-month with a disccount at least

I think the OP means the 12-month and the 6-month are the same monthly cost of $13, so the only reason to get the 12-month is if you have the extra cash on hand and really want the mounts/pets (assuming you play both Retail and Classic), because you’re not saving any money and you’re handing it over to Blizz to make investment interest on rather than you earning that interest yourself.
