What is the Most Tedious Animation in Pet Battles and Why is it Cyclone?

I’m still new to Pet Battles, but I’ve been noticing some of the things that you think could be improved upon and once I see it for myself, I can relate. One of the issues that I noticed was the languid pace of many pet battles. And there are certain animations that slow it down considerably.

I once thought Blistering Cold was the most annoyingly tedious animation in all of Pet Battles. Its damage is not significant and it happens in tiny micro-ticks. And the most stacks of Blistering Cold you put on, the longer it takes.

Still, it can be highly devastating when paired with effects like Black Claw and Shattered Defenses. But yesterday, I was fighting some humanoid bug-like creature in Pandaria, which is actually considered a flying pet, and it unleashed Cyclone and I thought I was going to lose my mind watching the slow-moving tornado pass each of my pets, where it may or may not do some damage.

Just waiting for that stupid Cyclone to finally finish so I could take my next turn made me realize I’d rather sit through Blistering Cold or Bonestorm than Cyclone. At least the former two reliably do damage. Cyclone may or may not actually hit anything.

Tornados on the ground may travel at speeds of up to 60 mph. (This might not seem very fast, but remember, if you’re driving away from one, there will be intense winds pushing against your car. Furthermore, Tornados don’t consider themselves bound by the rules of the road, being the anarchists that they are.

But Cyclone couldn’t travel 60 centimeters in an hour, let alone sixty miles.

For the love of God, Devs, if you’re reading this, speed that animation up!

Cyclone’s animation changed a few months ago. It used to only tag an opposing pet if it was going to damage it, which meant some turns it might not do anything at all. Now, yeah, it insists on visiting each one, even the dead ones.

As usual, no idea if the change was intentional and if it was, why ? And as usual we have no choice but to live with it.

Yeah it is very annoying. On that fight I always use the Servant of Demidos just for that reason. There are only a handful of pets with the Clean-up ability and it’s a pretty strong and useful pet just on it’s own. But definitely enjoy wiping out the Cyclone as soon as it’s played.

Ah, good pet to have then. I note that Tidal Wave is also good for this. Unfortunately, that’s usually an Aquatic pet, which are especially vulnerable to Flying pets.

Like I noted, there are a few annoying abilities out there, due to the length of time it takes for them to slog through their animations, but part of the reason Cyclone is so awful because it’s so unreliable. Barring the use of an ability like Lucky Dance, it misses more often than it hits. At least Bonestorm and Blistering Cold have a 100% hit probability.
