Serious question… What is the lifespan of a human in the Warcraft universe?
Is there and definitive lore that states how long or how many years the oldest is, etc? such as a character which we know their birth year and managed to live out a full life that wasn’t ended prematurely by war or disease?
I ask because humans are the offspring of Vrykrul but with a birth defect that made them shorter, smaller, weaker, ugly, etc… however we know vrykrul can live for thousands of years (they slept for thousands of years). So wondering if this means humans in WoW potentially live for as long as their vrykrul parents.
Regardless of what that chart states… I wonder what the max is, cause it seems even characters that are in their elder years, where a human in real life is plagued with health issues, frailty, etc, instead the elders in world of warcraft still seem to be hulking brutes and/or are in peak physical fitness, performance, and health. i.e. Uther, Khadgar, Genn Greymane, etc.
Even with characters such as Uther, you kinda have no doubt he could overpower and destroy Arthas based on strength alone, even though Arthas was probably a third of his age and in what’s considered prime age in real life.
That’s an interesting question, I don’t think it matters since some of the lore has been changed like the curse of flesh could possibly be a lie fabricated so we don’t know the real truth.
Vrykul were, I’m assuming here, immortal before the curse of flesh.
The fleshy Vrykul are 10k years old plus I believe, but that they spend that time sleeping…
So. Mutant humans seem… idk.
The linked page says over 100, but… I think thats from the RPG which is mostly non-cannon. I haven’t really seen a cap on the age of humans in game, but the oldest lorewise seem to be either immortal or have some life-extending magic.
I think Meryl Felstorm might be the oldest I can think of, but he’s really undead at the moment.
showing age is one thing, but all this means is human’s hair begins turning grey at age 60, but doesn’t let you know their max life span, could have gray hair all the way up to age 600 for all you know… kinda like the Draenei… Prophet velen got his grey hair many thousands of years ago but keeps on going and shows no signs of being anywhere close to death
I suspect humans have what we would consider normal human lifespans. It’s just that a number of the old ones have a lot of magic and seem to follow the rule that that extends one’s maximum lifespan.
Yeah, i think there really isn’t any definitive answer in lore… it seems that those who do manage to reach beyond age 70, end up being killed prematurely before we could ever find out the answer. Too much war, disease/plague, undeath, magic, and other things that kills all humans long before natural death ever could
Magic allows one to live forever, regardless of race. This is the reason why Elves are so long lived. It’s not their biology.
Turalyon being over 1000 years old and the Sunwell is said to allow for effective immortality is proof of this. Then there is that Mage order hall guy. Forget what he is called but he is a human who is over 2000 years old i believe, by the strenght of his own magic. Among a lot of other things.
oh yeah i always forget about that dude. 1000+ years old and is still in peak physical shape and health regardless of his grey hair…
As for the mage orderhall dude, I wonder who that is. I didn’t play a mage in legion, so I haven’t a clue and now i wonder who they are.
And with how easy it seems to begin to learn magic in warcraft’s universe it seems like this would be a smart thing to do once you reach old age, pick up a book or get someone to teach you the ropes (or simply pay for a character boost), and extend your life indefinitely
Well,I guess I’m glad to be an orphan then because the life of a mage isn’t pretty. If you understand the price you pay from that knowledge if it even exist.
Anyone that has played a Mage knows the price that has to be paid - mostly due to failing shield spells and lousy armour when everything suddenly wants to aggro YOU…
