What is the interest in "cross faction" play?

I play in care bear mode. I do not care about pvp… that being said in vanilla- wotlk my real was alliance dominated I know how it feels not having the population to get stuff done.

It’s funny that you’re roleplaying because Horde RP is actually literally dead.

Yeah, you’d think that, wouldn’t you?

Honestly, stuff like this has gone a long way towards souring me on the game and on Blizzard.

I just want to craft some peace.

( seriously, the older I get, the less I enjoy factional warfare … I want my fantasy gameplay to be about more than just endlessly killing )

Again the server merger idea while it seems like it would be a fix, probably isnt. Who knows if thats really what helped other companies or if they did it explicitly for the benefits gained by merging servers. Servers cost money. You suggest new servers and you might not he meaning it, but based on verbage thats the implication. Why get rid of good servers and buy new ones when the previous ones are fine?

We can go back and forth all day and speculate about server merging and its merit but neither of us know for sure if it will help or all the details of why a company might do that but I doubt its solely for the benefit of the playerbase. Thats a bit naive if thats what you believe but thats my opinion. Naive as my opinion might be…

Players might not be explicitly making the argument about lvling itself being too much but then you would be assuming that is their argument. Free faction change @25x idk…2,000,000 is a lot of lost revenue. Even for Blizzard. To which you will reply with the game dying or something like that. Now that thats out of the way, and given the companies statement about profit I doubt the game is dying. Plenty of full servers. Look at the server select page. Plenty full or high even to medium pop. Had I know this conversation would take place Id have screenshotted the same relative populations over the course of time. There are always some servers that have higher pop. Ive been on low pop so I get the frustration. Always been that way. I think player perception is much more potent than real numbers which we will never have. Just correlations made from assumptions based on lack of evidence and the opportunity to fill in the answer since there isnt a definitive one.

We will likely be better off agreeing to disagree at least somewhat on the server merger thing. I dont see it as the be all end all solution. You do. Time will tell and if you end up right…hats off to you.

I dont want more incentive personally to spend money at the cash shop. You are of course free to though.

The point in mentioning ones time is again…again…not everyone can or will invest the time in to doing so many things. Thats starting over for some players and…again…player time and how they spend it is specific. I lack the capacity to explain that further.

Regarding time gating…Legion had it. I cant recall well now but BFA surely had it. Time gating to the degree you see it isnt new to Shadowlands …even remotely. You are assuming this was a bandaid for lack of content based on your perspective. Blizzard didnt say it was. You decided that. That doesnt mean I completely disagree with it. There is always something to grind or wait for. Its an mmo. Thats how they work. Mission table in Legion was significant time gating and in a terrible way. It should have stayed in WoD instead of carrying over imo. Many people have pointed out the issues with Legion. I liked it and from WoD it felt like a step in the right direction. So many things are gated though like weekly world bosses for weapon skins…aforementioned mission table etc. Im sure others could provide a more concise list if they cared to bother with it.

Sure crunch time is a dated process. Its also still something that happens regardless and Im sure isnt the intention as much as the reality. Moving the bar to produce a better product is a good practice and should be done. If it results in a bad game sure you are probably right. It probably wasnt that great to begin with. Companies do push off release dates and the games often are good and there are examples of both. So again…postponing a game where its a good game is fine by me, my opinion, and preferred. Id rathwr wait than be disappointed. S$#% happens in life and thats all there is to it. Ignore that extremely relevant point or dont. That’s your call.

In lets say the construction industry…if supplies dont show up…noone builds because they dont have the supplies… The deadline doesnt change though. It obviously should. Same concept…either the crunch time it out when the stuff shows up or they push it out. Pushing stuff out is better than forcing it through, even if or regardless of if the end result isnt good or not. I expect that to be misunderstood but Im leaving it.

It kinda feels like you would rather fault my perspective or devalue or de legitimize it whereever you can. This entitre back and forth between you and I came from a post directed at the op and was indicated as my opinion and not fact or gospel. Im glad you felt compelled or inspired by my words but sometimes there isnt much to be gained or changed in ones perspective by endlessly debating it. Battles of persuasion have their place time etc but nothing is being gained here. There just isnt enough time to truly flesh out ones perspectives fully and I dont have the will or interest to do it over and over.

On that note thanks for the engagement and best of luck to you. I withdraw…so…you win? Whatever that translates to for you. Im going to move on to other topics.

The faction conflict is especially irritating because they have to handicap either side, because neither side can win. It’s bad enough that they make important lore characters incredibly dumb to forward this but they do the same to the player character and I find that insulting.

B-tag is also the authentication system. It has quite a number of hooks in the game. But at the end of the day, it’s all speculation on our part and we’ll get to see how it plays out. Until then, we’ve gone Horde for the preservation of the guild. Can’t wait to swap back.

I remain vocal towards preserving the core structure so that those who wish to RP that (in their head or actual RP), can, while adding the option for cross-faction grouping.

Tail end of Classic reporting in; uninterrupted sub since then. Took over a decade before I even end-gamed with anything other than my original, Alliance, character. RPer. Guild on 10th year.

I want cross-faction grouping.
