Are Earthens unique enough so people will actually play them, or they will eventually be forgotten ?
Personally they don’t appeal to me, and I must say it’s the first time in WoW history I don’t feel much like leveling a new race, even just for heritage armor
I see some people disappointed that they can’t be DKs or Druids, so that does not help. Not that I want to argue on this, but you give a race a bonus to armor, and you strip 2 tank classes from it? Kind of weird direction?
Which brings me to this point: imagine if they added a 4th Spec to Shaman, TanK ?
Earthens would be probably the best fit to Shaman Tank and I bet there would be tons of them.
Are Shaman tanks really impossible?
- we saw them in WoW vanilla
- we saw them in SOD
- they can already wear shield
- Shamans would become the alternative for people who enjoy druids (which is probably the most played class right now)

strange thing to lump earthen in with, the two have nothing to do with each other

Earthen are going to get azerite gem colors I think down the line, but they won’t be popular just like mechagnomes. It will just be another race people barely touch or just try out to mess with their racials.
Nobody asked for them as a race, and they could have been easily been a skin/recolor of the current dwarves for a different flavor. Hopefully we get another allied race down the line that isnt a same race we currently have and not painted over like a new apartment up for sell by a lazy landlord.
I predict enthusiasm for them will drop like a stone.
What would you do for a Klondike bar?
This is the only thing that popped in my mind when I read the OP 's thread.
I think it did when people discovered their racials are fairly bad and then IMMEDIATELY they announced we can be dracthyr on any class. Oof… the suckers that paid for race change to earthen, yikes.
The Earthen are cool. I think they did a really good job fleshing them out to feel unique enough from Dwarves.
I don’t know how popular will be after the War Within, but I definitely think they were a great addition. I just hope we get more allied races this expansion.

I doubt there will be many earthen players running around once the “new” wears off.

For the most part, the race you choose is just the visual you want to portray. The only race that broke that mold were the Dracthyr and even that is changing in 11.0.5. Racials can be fun but in the overall scheme of things, I don’t think they are a determining factor for many players.
As for Earthen, I just foresee them as becoming yet another look. Some will like them. Some will race change back to what they were playing before they race changed to Earthen. I made one but really have no intent to play it in the foreseeable future. I don’t need a fourth paladin.

Thought it was going to be a discussion storywise. I’ve noticed they’re more attached to Khaz Algar similar to the Dracthyr to the Aspects, would be difficult to explain their characters as to why they’d care to explore or fight.

They fulfill a particular race fantasy that nothing else has done. Mechagnomes were supposed to be that, but they gave us diaper gnomes instead of the robots from Ulduar.
Earthen are a legit Titan construct without ordinary bodily functions, which is exactly the kind of thing some people have wanted.
It’s not going to be the most popular race, or anything, but just like how worgen, vulpera, pandas and Tauren appeal to different varieties of furry, and how Dracthyr are for the scalies, we now have Earthen for those who want to be a robot/ construct type character.
It’s a niche, and a cool niche at that. They’ll have their dedicated players. They’ll probably rest somewhere above mechagnomes in the long run.

My Earthen Paladin was created by the Quintessons which just so happens to be the same beings that created the Autobots of Cybertron (I mean Azerothiantron). I am a headmaster for the Titan Class World Transforming Azeorth.
This of course is all copyright info taken from the transformers, so don’t report me.

Mechagnome has decent racials though, the earthen are a dwarf without the infamous self cleanse racial. OG dwarf is still best dwarf in regards to racials by lightyears, compared to the earhen
I see what you did there.
I love them. The hair and beard options are great.
Dissapointed we can’t be Death Knights? Yeah I am.
Does that mean it killed any interest in them for me? No.
To take a look at where this is going.
You are posting from a Drac.
Yes, I played one in DF beta and the first few weeks. Not a fan for many reasons. Flight should have been a given and they took how long to fix that issue?
Alot said same about Dracs being added and then seeing what we got in the end was dissapointing to many.

So you auto jump to furrys and what not.
I don’t play an Earthen because I want a robot/construct type.
I play an Earthen because I’m short as one irl and I really do enjoy having a form of dwarves in the Horde.
I’m not talking about balance, I’m purely talking about aesthetic and vibes.
Just for the easy illustration of the concept. Point being, different races fulfill different niches. There are plenty of short races, but only one race of Titan Constructs currently available.
There are at least 3 different dust jokes in the thread title alone.
