Because I feel like ranting and I’m sure other people have their stories. Yes, this thread comes around every now and then, but I haven’t seen one recently, so here we go:
I was in Necrotic Wake the other day to do one of the Broker quests. Healer asked for help between two trash packs in the Stitchflesh fight room, saying they didn’t know the mechanics for the last boss. No one said anything. Tank hadn’t pulled the next trash pack yet, so I typed up an abridged version of the mechanics. Mid typing, tank pulled the trash pack (one of those little ones with the literally easy kill zombie dudes, not even the big abominations). I finished up my explanation, hit enter.
Literally a second later, I was votekicked out of the group. They kicked me for not dpsing for all of two seconds while I explained the very important mechanics to the healer.
This reminds me of a time I ended up in a group where the tank and healer left because some of us were from rp servers; not Moon Guard, just rp servers in general. I don’t remember what they said exactly; some brainlet tripe about rp being gay or some such. I ended up wasting at least ten minutes before having to drop the group and try again.
As for the story I was originally going to share…
I was leveling a Zandalari Paladin. I ended up in Ragefire as a healer, ran ahead a bit to collect some of the hiding guys near the second boss during the preceding trash fight. The tank proceeds reprimand me for running ahead and proceeds to rub it in by threating to kick me then doing so in the middle of the third boss after telling me respond to him just before pulling. He sent a ‘told ya’ to me via whisper afterward. What a fantastic guy, I’m sure his epeen was feeling particularly large from what I presume to have been the latest in a series of undeserved powertrips.
I almost got kicked out of a couple over the years on my Resto Shammy because of my low damage. Gotta love when I see in chat “Dude, she’s the healer.” /sigh
The only time I was ever kicked that didn’t have to do with being D/C’ed when I still ran a lot was that my tank was in raid gear. It was in the first couple of months in Cata, all I said was ‘hello’ in chat, and half-way into the first pull started getting crap about being one of those elites. I kid you not. They were a nightmare - running ahead to pull a bunch of stuff while the healer refused to heal me because I was geared all the while I said nothing in chat.
They kicked me after the first boss and I requeued - just needed a handful of VP to finish my week and ended up getting a group in progress that had just endured a DPS pretending to be a tank, apparently. They were great - I ended up tanking another for them so they could get more of their own VP taken care of. That other group did me a favor, really, just frustrating as we could have zoomed through and been done. That kind of nastiness definitely wasn’t the norm but still funny after all these years.
See now this I don’t get at ALL. Doing damage in general generates threat…so if you’re a tank that is not only holding aggro, but generating extra aggro by being a beast DPS - what’s the problem??
Oh man, that reminds me of another time in Cataclysm where that basically happened, but in the opposite direction. I was part of a 4/5 guild group that queued together for ZG to get our fifth. We zoned into the instance, the PUG saw we were a guild group… and demanded that we vote kick him now because he was absolutely certain that we were going to be abusive toward him. We promised him we were cool and weren’t going to kick him, but he was absolutely adamant that he wasn’t going to do anything at all, and insisted we kick him until we finally just had to throw up our hands and do what he asked for.
Still one of the most bizarre LFG experiences I’ve ever had.
That’s just mean and rude, dude. I’m sure you’ll still do it because some people are just jerks, but that’s just…a peepee move that ruins people’s play experience.
unable to heal LFR trash in the last tier of bfa
the tentacles slam debuff stacks. it went up to 20+ literally unhealable was about 4-6 of them
every healer in the raid got kicked for not being able to out heal it
then GD told me im bad because mythic level raiders can heal the LFR trash mechanics ( which the correct way is not ignoring them and letting them aoe the raid they gota be tanked) but… yea
gotta love it.
