What is the difference / downside of running Scholomance as a 5 man vs. as a Raid?

I’ve never run a dungeon as a raid, and am curious what, if any, downsides exist if you decide to run something like Scholomance with a raid team of 6-7 vs. the standard five? Do the same loot tables apply, for example?

Thanks in advance.

scholo can’t be ran as a raid, capped at 5

Yeah I’m kind of confused… I wasn’t aware any dungeons could be run with more people if one wanted. All dungeons are 5mans except UBRS which can have 10.

everything but strat, scholo and brd can be ran as a raid

Running with more people makes it easier, that’s it.

Pretty sure all classic dungeons can be ran as 10 mans if you really want to. That’s how it was in Vanilla. Haven’t bothered to check it though.

Wow really? I never knew. I wonder why more don’t. Probably don’t want loot competition lol.

No exp gains in raid IIRC. Also, pretty sure you cant do it anywhere but LBRS, because its techincally in the same instance as UBRS

The experience gain is greatly reduced in a raid. You also cannot complete most quests in a raid (unless they were specifically designed with a raid in mind, like UBRS).

Everything is faster with more people but the loot tables are the same. It’s a balance of more people to compete with vs speed. Most people find just running a 5 man in most dungeons is optimal - and I’d tend to agree especially for leveling for the XP factor alone.

You can do it in all the leveling dungeons except for strat and scholo. BRD I don’t remember if you can or not.

10 man RFC anyone?

10 manning SM was popular because the raid exp was bugged and you didn’t loose the bonus.

Have a look at the player cap https://www.wowhead.com/news=294645/biggest-changes-to-dungeons-in-classic-wow-if-youve-played-bfa section, and you can see that most dungeons are actually able to be run as 10 mans. There was a hotfix to Classic after the first couple of weeks, due to the experience not scaling down in 10 mans.

Yeah man, the other guy corrected me. I appreciated the detailed info though. I definitely didn’t know that. Strange they allow 10 for LBRS but not BRD. BRD does feel more like a mini raid I guess with it’s length though.

UBRS and LBRS are actually the same instance.

Well, yeah I suppose they are haha. Fair point. Seems like I didn’t think too much while posting in this thread. I blame my kid, I’m tired. I’ll leave now :stuck_out_tongue:

You should never run anything as a 10 man.

It just wastes people’s time and dilutes loot.

People crying about how 1.12 is the nerfed content patch fail to mention that all of the real good farms were nerfed too.
