It could be a piece of equipment, a mount, a pet, or something like that.
For me, what I’m about to say will sound absolutely crazy. But you can view summary of my character, View Profile, select Achievements & Feats of Strength, and eventually you will find proof in the Promotions and Mounts sections.
During Hallow’s End 2024, on the second-to-last day of the event, I decided to run the associated dungeon. After the changes of only looting the rare stuff from a holiday boss once a day with an increased drop every time you don’t get it, as well as the Wicker Men challenges for Hallow’s End, I hadn’t been expecting much except for a few random candies and the promised transmog piece. I ran the dungeon around 4 times since these changes went out and a grand total of around 7 times, ever.
I decided to try the 2 Wicker Men challenges that involved running away from things on the floor, which was pretty easy since the fight was quick and I was paying 80% of my attention to the floor and runnig away from purple circles.
When the Horseman died, everybody left the group after looting. They looted nothing surprising. I got not really anything from the Horseman, no candy, just the currency. I opened my backpack and opened the Loot-Filled Pumpkin.
I still couldn’t if only get the Headless Horseman’s Mount.
I still couldn’t if only get Arfus.
Of course, I hadn’t been looking directly at the item when I opened it.
And then…
Arfus and the Headless Horseman’s Mount were in there. Both of them.
I think I’ll never complain about rng again.
Edit: Good luck to everyone! If I can get them on my around 7th visit, you can get at least one of them too!

That’s crazy, congrats! I still don’t have either.
I do feel like my luck has been insane otherwise though. In the past month I’ve gotten the Heavenly Onyx Could Serpent, Ashes of Al’ar, the Grey Riding Camel, Taeshalach, and Scythe of the Unmaker.
The last 2 dropped in the same run also! I wasn’t even farming them on an alt army or anything.

I looted Invincible and the Fiery Warhorse mount from Karazhan raid in back to back runs. Got the first one and thought “well why not since I’m lucky right now”.

Twice in 3 weeks Teebu Blazing sword dropped in MC on same mob.
You have to wait 24hrs to enter raid after a boost, I used one on my hunter, first time in Sunwell Legendary Bow Dropped.
The week I got Legendary Daggers on rogue, I got 1 Warglaive, Experiment 12-B mount, Onyxia mount, and Throne of Four Winds mount to drop.
Most recently, the time walking chest rewards have a high mount drop rate, on back-back toons I got Mims head and Invincible, probably not as rare, but the fact I got both in short order was fun to see.

In OG classic I played one alt and got the dragon’s call in my first and only run of sunken temple and used it to level.
Then on another alt I got both halves of Sul’thraze in one run in ZF and leveled with the epic sword.
In 2019 Classic I outrolled 6 people and got the black blade of shahram from UBRS on my first run. Also ended up getting sulfuras and thunderfury on that character.
Also saw Teebu’s in MC once but I lost the roll.

After two years of farming Garrosh on an ever increasing roster of plate classes leveled specifically to increase my odds at the shoulders, they finally dropped.
Two months later Mists Remix was announced.

Back in cata I got both warglaives in just 3 kills.
The day I got the Time Lost Protodrake I also got the blue proto from Utgarde on my way back to town. Was flying back on my new TLP and decided to stop in for one last try.
I got my minfernal battlepet in less than a week of camping it.
These seem to be pretty common now, but back in the start of MoP they were very hard to get cuz they were a rare spawn and there was no way to trigger the spawn.

Not that crazy really, but back in vanilla, I played Holy Paladin. I was in a PUG to kill a dragon world boss. It dropped a healing cape and I won the drop. The only reason I remember it is because all the priests were PISSED and the Raid Leader said I was a Holy Paladin, so I can use it and it’s legit.
Specifically, it was Azuregos and he dropped:

I got Jaina’s elemental mount on my first run ever of BoD about 2 weeks ago. I’ve farmed a ton of mounts but that’s the only one shot I’ve ever gotten.

I was flying in Outland during BfA farming for Ashes, I decided one day and go “What the heck, I’ll go do Heroic Sethekk Halls real quick and see if I get the Raven.”
It drops first try, and I’m still blown away by the fact that it happened.

On the eve of Wrath of the Lich King I solo’ed dead side Strath on my troll warrior. I didn’t have any reason, I just wanted to see if I could do it. Back at that time we didn’t have the massive discrepancy in power we do now, so a warrior soloing Strath at 70 was pretty challenging, especially if you didn’t raid on your warrior and they were mostly geared in dungeon blues. Often I just had to wait until Bladestorm was off CD before pulling a pack, and died once from a botched pull. But I was getting through it.
I charged into Baron’s room at exactly 45 minutes. Now at this time there was a quest for an armor set still in the game that required you to complete Strath within 45 minutes. Which in Vanilla was HARD. Elite groups would form to do it and often failed. But I kicked in the door and walked in on the baron RIGHT at that time. There was actually a graphic for it. He would turn towards the hostage who was in there and project a green drain life at her. My charge interrupted his cast before it could complete and I started beating him down. I used Bladestorm to kill the skeleton adds, used potions, spammed Execute, and dropped him with about 5% life left. That was all I wanted, to see if I could solo a place I had spent so much time in during Vanilla.
Then I looted his corpse, and the Deathcharger’s Reins were there. First try, and I wasn’t even trying, and got them. I rode that mount all through Wrath. People get so mad when I tell them it took me one try to get those, but the story behind it is kind of epic so I don’t feel bad.
And then raiding Karazhan the next day with my guild as a fun farewell to Burning Crusade I got the Arcanite Ripper. I’m sorry.

Back in early BfA, I got the red Scythe of the Unmaker from my very first Mythic Antorus mog run. A few weeks or months later, I met a guy who helped me gather honey in Stormsong Valley and Goldenmane dropped for me off a random mob.
In early DF, I got the X-45 Heartbreaker the day after Valentine’s Day, ironically. In May, I got the Infinite Timereaver during Wrath Timewalking, I ran Firelands a few days later as part of the Dragonwrath questline and the Flametalon of Alysrazor dropped late at night, and then a few hours later after the servers reset, the Pureblood Fire Hawk also dropped. And in the last few weeks of the expansion, I got the Embodiment of the Hellforged manuscript from LFR Aberrus in less than ten runs.
More recently, I got the Hellfire Infernal from Mythic Nighthold last month, then two days later on the first day of the 20th anniversary event, my first Archavon kill gave me the Grand Black War Mammoth.

I had both old ZG mounts drop from the same raid lockout right before they were removed from the game, i got the tiger first i think, then hearthed out in excitement. A day or so later i thought to myself “I better go back and do the raptor before reset”, and it dropped
Oh, i got Mims head and Invincible on the same day too, after maybe 450 or so attempts on both.

Way back in classic, we decided to try and run schololance with 5 warlocks just to see if it was possible, because us warlock players are somewhat of a special kind of weird.
Not only was it possible, we completed the place, and sure enough headmasters charge dropped. Still have the screenshot of us posing with the interface on to show the loot roll saved

An unexpected drop for me was the Infinite Timereaver. I hadn’t been grinding it or anything, just doing the TW dungeons back early on not long after they started. So while doing one of them, there it was, all sparkly on my screen and in my bag.
It was pleasing because I remember when I did Old Hillsbrad Foothills and saw the Epoch Hunter and roolly badly wanted it as a mount. The Timereaver is about as close as the game has got to making that happen, so I was very happy to have it.
Still wouldn’t turn done the Epoch Hunter if they dropped it in the game, though…

Back when I was just starting out in WoW, it was Legion, and I was playing my brand new Windwalker Monk.
I signed up for a Return to Karazhan M+ and I accidentally went into the wrong one, the TBC version.
We were still waiting on a tank so I decided to clear out the joint for funsies. I killed the Horseman and found the mount.
I asked: “Is this rare? I accidentally walked into the old version.”
Some of the group pugs said they still hadn’t found it, and they were vanilla players.
lmao.

I got the original Bloodlord Mandokir epic
Mount. Still have it. It’s warbound now, which is nice. But it used to be a lot cooler because alliance and horde used to have totally different mounts, and I was a night elf druid riding a raptor. It was very unusual.
