I remember doing maybe 1 quest with that troll NPC in the spider zone that mentioned black blood but tbh can’t really remember much about it. But it has appeared a few times in the story and im confused if I’m supposed to know more about it? Is it the blood of Old Gods?
Also, if someone could pease refresh my memory of what that circle thing is that Xal Atath was using? I know she got it from the dragon guy and he got it from a dungeon.
It is known as the Black Blood of the Old Gods.
We don’t know if it is from a singular Old God or if it is a collection of them that was built up somewhere over time and only started to leak into Azj-Kahet recently. The presumed time is when Sargeras stabbed Azeroth.
An artifact called The Dark Heart. Chromie believes it was a proto-Dragon Soul. It is an artifact that Neltharion sealed away on the Forbidden Reach. The 10.0.7 trailer for ‘The Return to the Forbidden Reach’ shows Iridikron getting his hands on it. The Dark Heart can absorb magic and stores it. Alleria believes it can also convert that magic into void energies. For what purpose Xal’atath intends to use it for we don’t know. All we know is that Iridikron used it to absorb necromantic power from Galakronds corpse (which Galakrond got from drinking saronite contaminated water). He then gave it to Xal’atath who then used it to siphon the arcane energies in Dalaran. Afterwards she tried to siphon the void energies from Beledar before Alleria damaged it. Causing it to leak and allowing Khadgar (who turned himself into pure arcane energy) to escape.
I’m curious if it’s actually blood or the fluid that gets released during cell breakdown that depending on its iron content can be mistaken for blood.
I mean, I don’t think the Old Gods actually practice aerobic respiration. Even their blood isn’t really blood in the strictest sense. It’s just corruption goo.
It also absorbs Negative Emotions which is convenient for those who want to harness those Emotions(like the Stonewright) or the Void Magics enhanced by those Emotions(like Xal’atath)!
It is used in the ascension process for Nerubians, right?
Wonder if it is the Void equivalent/counter to the evolutionary properties of the Well of Eternity.
