If it isn’t WoW, what game was it and why?
Is it is WoW, why?
And maybe if you were going to dream up a perfect MMO, what would it look like and how would you tweak or amalgamate what you have seen in other MMOs to create such a game?

so far WoW is the only MMO i’ve played
SWTOR through all 8 classic stories
The Secret World through the original areas
Guild Wars 2 at launch. Now it’s less than perfect, but what a game it was at launch. All the cosmetics were beautiful, and it delivered a no-grind universe of FUN.
WoW is the only MMO I’ve ever played b/c it was the first MMO I played, and I’ve been addicted to it from the first day I played it.
Eve-Online was/is absolutely wonderful. Particularly its varying types of PvP, how it was a PvP game with PvE in it and how the entire market was controlled by players. I like the fact that the developers of the game basically let players do whatever they want, as long as it isn’t exploiting bugs/hacking others players. In fact, here is a music video/song released by the developers of that game:
SWG before the NGE, and TSW.
This one right here! It’s also the one I’m most familiar with and enjoy. I’ve also played GW2, SWTOR, Conan, and TERA.
Funny how that works!
ESO. Immersive. Story-driven. Has tons of RPG elements. Crafting professions matter.
Yeah, ESO easily. Used to love WoW and all Blizzard titles, but they killed the Blizzard fanboy in me.
Dark Age of Camelot, the PvP was amazing prior to Atlantis.
The first Guild Wars edges out WoW for me by a bit. I started with Guild Wars and eventually started playing WoW. It may have been the other way around had I started with WoW. I think the reason for me favoring Guild Wars was the fact that I had never experienced that type of gaming environment before and so the nostalgia runs deeper because the first time experience with something often leaves the most emotional impact.
This one.
While there are always things that need improvement, I still have a good time whenever I log in. When it stops being any fun at all, I’ll quit playing.
I’ve played Wow for 10 years and I played ESO for 2 months. Wow is the only MMO I’ve ever truly been invested in for a multitude of reasons that I’m too lazy to type out but basically boils down to end game content. I love raiding and Blizzard has never let me down when it comes to a well designed raid (okay, except for Dragon Soul, that was a trash raid).
The imperial agent story is awesome. Also the sith inquisitor one.
WARHAMMER ONLINE, no doubt.
SWTOR has great stories. Raids and achievements were fun too. I thought PVP paled and the UI felt stiff
Depends on what part of the game we’re talking.
Best story? FFXIV.
Best single-player experience? SWTOR.
Best gameplay? Have to go with FFXIV again.
Best class design? WOW. They’re not perfect, but not being pigeonholed into a single role and giving me the kind of fantasy I want to have is a win to me.
Best end-game content? WOW - mainly due to it being the only MMO I reached max level and experienced end-game content.
All the other MMOs I played were “meh”, at best.
If I could take the combat from games like Tera or Blade and Soul and put it in WoW, I don’t think I’d have much reason to ever play anything else.
Scum and Villainy, Dread Fortress and Dread Palace are still my favorite raids in any game
Sith Warrior, Imperial Agent, and Smuggler are my favorite stories
Toss up between Risk Your Life 2 Incomplete Union and Project Utopia.
