What is the best fishing pole?

is it still the artifact fishing pole from legion expansion? also, when your fishing reaches max, does +5 +10 things on your fishing skills still matter? if it does, why?

Typically, increased fishing skill improves your chances of getting fish while not fishing in a pool as opposed to junk items.

However, if you’re at max fishing skill, you generally won’t get junk anywhere you fish in BfA. The Underlight Angler is thus the best fishing pole to use.

I am still using the Underlight Angler. Very useful for the water walking and improved swim form that it gives. These still work in all zones.

I don’t think the bonuses to fishing work after you’re max level in BFA. However, there is no need for them anyway. BFA doesn’t include anything neat in fishing and you only need skill level 1 to catch any fish. Inside or outside of schools.

I have the angler AW from legion which looks really cool and has warer walking and fish form.

If I didn’t t have it already I would NOT spend the time getting it. It takes a LONG time and it’s a pain in the rear to unlock

For water walking to fish the fishing raft from MOP is easier to get and as others have mentioned the bonus from fishing poles really is hardly worth occupying the bad space for carrying one.

Yes… get to max legion skill. Catch one of each rare fish. Fish up a pearl. The pearl starts a quest.

I don’t think it’s that bad; I’ve gotten two additional artifact poles so far this expansion and am working on more still. There are usually a couple of Fisherfriend groups in the group finder each day. You can get the rep with that NPC and then stick around long enough to purchase the baits for that zone. This gets you both the achievement so you can fish up the pearl and the emerald for the additional skin unlocks.

Afterward you only need to earn 5500 artifact power, which is 110 total rare fish, to get yourself rank 12 on the pole and unlock the important traits. A few Ancient Vrykul Ring or Rusty Queenfish Brooch baits or a good group with Sha’leth makes quick work of that requirement.

It’s debatable whether +skill even matters any more, but since the rescale:

Underlight angler +15 (was +60)
Arcanite fishing rod +14 (was +40)
Jeweled/kalu’ak +13 (was +30)

(Ephemeral used to be +100, but it’s now only on par with arcanite at +14)

I think it still matters, but you have to have enough +skill for it to matter. The highest for now is currently +68 (every five minutes for two minutes, +64 the other three).

It would be nice if they gave us some more fishing fun, so far it’s been a whole lot of nothing. :frowning:
