What is the average age of playing WoW? I’m 40yrs old, and I have struggles with playing this game really badly. I don’t know how to make this game like FUN because I have absolutely NO idea what I do half the time, and I just click to be clicking . I do enjoy the healing role class the most and been playing my druid a lot more which is easier. But, I am having such a difficult time understanding things. My IQ isn’t really that great either. Heck I can’t even retain things that well . I’m also visually impaired . So I do wanna git gud at the game, I am just sucky. What would be an advice or addons or anything to help improvement? Thanks
I’ll be 40 in November. /high5
At this point in time, I’d guess early/mid-30s is the average age of WoW players.
I’m pretty good at WoW though.
Try the MaxDPS addons, my sister does up to high M+ on multiple classes using a gamepad by relying on that.
37 here
lol
The only advice I have for you is to join a guild/community and find friends to play the game with. The game is 1000% better with friends. If you play alone, it’s just you and those cold cold numbers, no matter how well you do.
Other than that, read guides and practice. You’ll get better the more you practice…and you’ll be more willing and excited to practice if you have friends there to help you.
I’m 40. Sigh.
Someone linked a study / survey with like 3k participants a handful of months ago that put the average age in the 30s. Don’t remember exactly where in the 30s.
That said, these kinds of things are prone to bias due to who is being asked.
Asking people who frequent fansites and online forums is going to net you an older average age than just asking in Trade Chat. That kinda thing.
So is the study-I-can’t-find-the-link-to accurate? Idk. Maybe? Maybe not.
Another one from way back in 2005 got a result of 28 years old. I can’t imagine it got younger since then. But that was almost definitely a sampling bias situation at that point in time.
Anyway, I’m 31. Most of the people I talk to that I met through WoW are 29-31. A few mid 30s, a few mid 20s. I’d wager the average is in the 30s but that’s anecdotal.
If you try DPS again, consider a Rotation Helper addon like: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/hekili
They’re not the BEST way to learn what you should be hitting, but for people who are struggling HARD, it can be helpful.
There won’t be something like that for a Healer, so instead I’d recommend giving Resto Shaman and/or Holy Priest a shot. Both specs are very straightforward, reactive healers. Whereas Resto Druid is very proactive, which complicates things. If you’re having fun with Druid, that’s fine, just throwing it out there as an option.
(Shaman is more straightforward than Priest right now FWIW)
DBM (DeadlyBossMods) and GTFO are solid addons to have the game scream at you if you’re standing in something or about to be standing in something. Might help a bit.
There are also Weakauras packages to announce basically every mechanic in the game. Personally I feel it tends to overlap a ton with DBM so I don’t run that, but I know people who do.

Knowing your own performance is like step 1 to knowing if you’re improving or not.
I’m 46.
Nothing wrong with us old gamers.
I’ll be 52 in May.
I’m old enough to remember seeing Alien 2 originally in Theaters.
Average WoW player age is 63.
The Warcraft 1 RTS game is 30 years old, and I imagine a lot of those fans were some of the first to play WoW, so I would assume the majority of players are between 30-50 years old and thereabout. I, myself, turn 41 next month.
Surprised at the number of you biting
Fixed that for you.
My dentures are soaking.
I will be 54 at the end of April.
I got you beat… I saw the original Star Wars when it opened in theaters /flex cough cough
Average age of WOW players I believe is around low 30s
I also saw the original Star Wars in theaters. I was a whole 6 years old lol.
