What is PTR and How about a Glossary?

Stupid question, I know but, the game needs a basic glossary for acronyms that old hands use and understand but leaves the rest of us scratching our heads.

DM=Deadmines
GG=“Good Game Old chap, Well played, I have nothing but respect for you and hope to see you once again on the field of battle and that your future endeavors are all successful”

ptr=public test realm (the “beta” testing server)

(Can also be used sarcastically)

gg no re means good game, no redo, popularized by the best FFA warcraft 3 player and now hardened criminal, Marn.

You’re scratching your head over the “old hands” acronyms, and I’m scratching my head over Twitch memes.

I’m old.

List looks good. However, aggro generally means having one or more enemies going after you. For example “Pulling agro” means to overthreat it’s current target to make it attack you. Very rarely have I heard it in reference to setting a pet to aggressive.

It depends on where you’re coming from, as a tank i’ve normally used Aggro to = Threat,

For example “Yo let me get Aggro off you at X amount of time”

“Or wait till i have Aggro”

I normally use Aggr for Agressive myself, or just say the word

Then again i don’t play hunters, so i wouldn’t know myself. I just know Aggro means General aggression form PC NPCS and so on,

The only MMO term Ive used that I have seen current gamers not recognize is when I say:

All of those mobs over there BAF.

I guess ‘BAF’ fell out of use in MMOs around the early 2000s but it just means “Bring a friend”. It was a way of telling someone that the mobs will come in groups if pulled instead of solo pulling.

You’ll probably need this one

“ITOTGWYS”

I’m too old to get what you’re saying

But seriously, I’m always googling what the abbreviation people are using these days means lol.

Bro did you type that out? Well done. Yup. +1 for pinning it.

That should be
Dot(s) = Damage Over TIme

FTFU: Fixed that for you

You meant Damage over Time

HOT = Heal over time
ISO = In search of (rarely used)

You might add “Strat UD” in addition to “Strat Dead” since I see Strat UD more

FC = Flag carrier

And then of course we could start going through all the spells’ acronyms but that’s for someone else lol.

oh oh, FITE FITE!
