When Blizzard launches pre-orders for War Within with the option to buy early access in the Epic Edition, it gave me a thought: What is the point of pre-ordering any edition if Blizzard isn’t rewarding you for it? Pre-ordering should be rewarded with early access. It’s not like digital copies of the game are limited, it just feels like corporate greed.
Typically when you buy the expansion, you get the mounts and pets immediately.
we are already past the topic of corporate greed. Thats out in the open. I am only still around because WoW has been a part of my life for so long. Why anyone else is staying, idk lol
True,
But if you going to buy war within rigth now you will get same mounts/pets as some one who pre-order it.
Neckbeard logic. shrugs. People would pay early access to look at the moon.
Once upon a time when everything was on discs, pre-ordering ensured that you would get a copy before your local store’s inventory would sell out.
Now there’s really no reason to preorder a game without a preorder bonus unless it’s an indie game and you want to fund the developer
I know I’m going to play because I enjoy the game so I pay early when announced and don’t have to think about it again.
The point of pre-order is to sell copies to people that will probably not even play the game.
Back in the day Gamestop and BestBuy would run out of copies when popular games released, and thus the pre-order was born.
And lo’ corporations worldwide began to realize that a good percentage of people who pre-order a game never play it. That’s a good percentage of dollars that never would have gone to the company.
So what would a good businessperson do? Offer preorders on every game. Bribe people with low-budget exclusives. Encourage them to buy ahead so they won’t be afraid to miss out limited time only rewards.
Heck, you don’t even have to put out a complete or quality game at all. Half of those preorders will not refund. That’s money in the bank for doing nothing at all. Who would ‘t want in on that?
Remembering back in the day going to Game Stop and thumbing through a three ring binder to see what games had a preorder to them so I could skip the line and pick up the game at launch and start my shift at Hot Topic with little issue.
Outside of being yelled at by the mom who paid for the same game for her kid and blame me for selling her kid a spiked collar with in the same hour lol.
i remember that store lol now its change alot lol
and that one smell it comes with
You get the in game stuff way early. That was the “reward”. Also known as a purchase.
I’m staying because they promised me I would get a girlfriend in level 70, still waiting.
It is an engine for my game of pretend.
maybe they said AGE 70, not level
Shame the small indie company behind World of Warcraft isn’t putting those funds to better use.
It’s to give them your money ahead of time, for some reason?
Somehow people think that giving money before the product is complete, in addition to cosmetic goodies, is going to result in a better product.
Nevermind the fact that they have your money already, so they can get complacent. You already paid them, why does it have to be good anymore?
What are you gonna do, refund a product you don’t even have? Lol.
The point of getting paid is that it generally happens after you do your job, not beforehand.
And there’s a reason for that.
the early access was literally the bonus to the epic edition.
like, that it is the one and only difference between this epic edition, and the other ones for previous expansions.
Nothing else about any other edition is different than previous expansions.
Hell, I didn’t even know about the early access until like last month and I preordered epic edition back in December.
Sure, some folks just want them sooner.
I ordered the game, like, 2 day before it launched. Which is pretty typical for me.
It’s so they can have “early access” to your money.
I buy it when I know I have the money for it, if things are tight around launch I can still look forward to it so /shrug
I only preorder wow and ff though
