What is happening to all of my skimpy armor sets?

Look. I’m not going to make this too longwinded. I’m going to keep this as concise as possible.

First off, I’m a female. I’m 24 years old & was a victim of sexual assault at 15 years old. I have been playing WoW since i was 9 years old.

With that being said, all forms of sexual harassment & assault should be taken very seriously.

BUT sex in A R T should be preserved. I am an artist myself. A sexual harassment lawsuit should not warrant censorship of art in a video game.

An artist worked hard to create those paintings, that armor, etc etc.
The fact that someone else’s work was changed &/or scrapped is BS to me.

Stop censoring your games.

I pay money to be able to have skimpy & revealing transmogs. I dress very risqué like in real life. My past does not have me living in fear & covering my body scared that a stranger is going to attack me. That is not how that happens statistically.

In my case, it was an employee of my father & a family friend. He was also a member of our guild in WoW on Illidan. What happened is over. He was dealt with to the fullest extent of the law. But I have gone on still having confidence in myself, my body & my somewhat revealing style.

Which keep in mind, I was a minor at the time, so I wasn’t dressed inappropriately then. My mother wouldn’t allow it.

With all that being said. In this game, as a player in a virtual world, my right to dress how I want WILL be preserved. Just as it is in real life. You will NOT shame women’s bodies by covering them.

You will also not shame a man (or woman) for admiring a woman’s beauty either. (Which btw, hello, they aren’t even real. It is pixels on a screen…)

Shame on YOU Blizzard for jumping on the cancel/censorship culture train.

I’m sorry that situation happened to you and agree all harassment should be taken seriously. I know they made some changes to art elements, references, and innuendo, but the blue post stated they don’t intend to change appearances or cosmetics.

“We also want players to be able to express themselves through their characters, so we don’t intend to change existing player looks or cosmetics. Instead, we want to ensure that we’re offering a wide range of options for players to represent themselves.”

I hate to break this to you, but the vast majority of the skimpy armours were made in Vanilla and Burning Crusade. Wrath of the Lich King eschewed that kind of armour in favour of a wintery theme for everything and that design philosophy has more or less been in place - with some exceptions - ever since. Aside from Cata, that gear design was garbage, gear has been representative of the xpac’s theme. All the stuff in Mists is a themepark mishmash of Asian historical armour and weapons. WoD leaned heavily into the primal and industrial and space crystal.

Most of the changes made have been to static assets and dialogue. Also calling it censorship gives it more credit that it deserves; that implies there’s some kind of moral stance being taken as opposed to a desperate attempt to clean up their image as a pit of criminal debauchery before awkward things like swearing to be truthful in front of a judge happen.
