What is good DPS in M+?

Hello,

I have only ever played a healer in M+ and am not sure what is considered good deeps. I was in a group composed of War tank, DH/Hunter/DK dps. I am a holy priest. I found that everything died extremely slowly and I was OOM each fight. It was a M12 Sanguine Depths. I see that most did 5K and below according to my details meters. Any help is appreciated.

I mean, it really depends on the class, as some classes bring really good utility over raw damage.

Looking at OVERALL damage per timed run, anything above 6k is pretty solid.
I’d say average 5k is what needed to time 15 comfortably, along with Tank being ~2.5-3k average and healer at least 1.5k average.

In my 17’s runs, my group and I are all usually at 7k+ per person, with tank being at times over 4k and healer at good 2k.

Lot of factors.

This week especially, you can have great DPS but things can die super slow because they keep healing in Sanguine.

5k on average from the DPS should be fine for a 12. Maybe a little on the lowish side with a Holy Priest since they can’t do nearly as much extra DPS as a Holy Paladin, but if you’re constantly ooming and every fight is taking forever, that’s probably more down to mishandling of mobs and sanguine as a whole than it is the actual amount of DPS.

take a peek at the interrupt view in details

as well as damage taken.

those are also big factors in how smooth a run is (or is not)

Also Arcane Mages.

I did a 17 NW with one who averaged over 10k overall and wasn’t even monopolizing weapons. Dude is insane.

Define “good”.

I see good 2.2k+ IO DPS doing around 8.5-9.5k DPS depending on the instance. As a tank I currently do 5-5.5k DPS. Depends on pull size, dungeon, what buffs you have, and all that stuff.

I bet better players could pull numbers even beyond that, and there’s still more gear to earn this season. Nobody is close to the gear cap yet TBH.

Honestly the most insane class I’ve seen this season is Havoc DH. They’re nuts dude. They’re good with caster groups, they’re good with melee groups. They pump hard. They’ve got an immunity. They’ve got an AE stun. They’re just pumpers. I love em. So good.

Problem is that I’d rather have a Vengeance DH in the group and we certainly don’t need 2 DH.

… why?

Bears are super good this season. Like, I actually fear Blizzard nerfing me I feel so powerful.

If you run a Havoc DH you can have happy casters and run a Bear tank, which also do pretty insane DPS as well.

IMO, Bear, Boomkin, HPal, DH DPS and Mage (either Arcane or Frost) is the best on paper comp you can run.

Rogues are better than havoc though

SD is one of the hardest dungeons to heal if you are playing with people who don’t stop/interrupt/control the mobs. There is a lot of avoidable damage. I have found while gearing alt healers at lower levels that I heal for more in there than I do at higher levels. I had one 12 a month or so ago where I did 9m in healing outpoint. It’s not my favorite place to pug.

5k overall is fine for a 12. was the tank not moving stuff out of sanguine?

The one with the best player behind the keyboard.

Unless you’re doing bleeding edge keys, any class is fine.

Rogues are great, but Shroud isn’t the powerhouse of an ability it used to be and without that being a core part of your strategy, they don’t bring nearly as much to the table as DH’s do.

Though I shouldn’t need to say that the actual skill of the player is still important.

It’s pretty hard to be a bad DH though, I have one and it’s very easy to play. You can’t mess up a 4 buttons rotation.

I’ve skipped most of this expansion for PvE, what is the thing with Shroud being less useful?

Shh.

Don’t say anymore.

lmao.

Allowing your group to skip without using invis pots means you can use DPS pots which can make a significant difference.

I’m a BM hunter, notoriously one of the lowest overall DPS for mythic+ but I often see 8k+ for overall DPS at the end of dungeons.

I did a Halls of Atonement the other day with a guild group and finished at 10.3k overall DPS. Tank had some sick pulls. A lot of your DPS will come from the tank knowing how to pull properly. Communicating your CD usage with them is a big factor too.

5k is low overall DPS.
