What is "gameplay saboutage"?

I was looking on the Report function earlier and noticed what appears to be a new reportable action called ‘gameplay saboutage’. I have not heard any notification in any patch notes or whatever about this, and wondered if anyone had read anything to explain it.

Just what does it cover? Is there some specific set of actions that fit it? I can’t report anyone to check it because I was afraid if I clicked on it to see if it had a follow up screen for details and it didn’t have one and just reported them, I’d be slapping some innocent passerby.

This has been a report function for a while actually. I’ve used it to report people that are exploiting terrain or safe-spotting in BGs.

Let me guess, someone left a dungeon and that’s sabotage to you?

Couldn’t help myself.

No, I rarely do dungeons nowadays. I was reporting someone advertising carries in Newcomer Chat and saw it as an option. Couldn’t recall seeing it there before. shrugs My eyes are getting as old as I am. :sunglasses:

That option is for dungeon leavers and pvpers not doing what is apparently expected of them.

I took it to mean when people are preventing others from playing – like when a bot group spawn camps certain mobs in an area – BfA was in Drustvar with those porcupines, and Nazmir with the blood trolls, this expansion I’ve seen them in Chromie time in Silithis and Burning Steppes. They prevent people from proceeding through quest lines because they kill all the mobs associated.

stuff like people quitting mid raid pull or going out of their way to deny you something are often thought to be sabotage and yeah people don’t approve of this kinda thing. Like someone using a fat mount and camping out on top of the loot goblin’s corpse denying others the ability to loot it till it disappears knowing full well they don’t mail you loot from that thing if you don’t loot it… can be seen as game play sabotage as they’re ruining your chances at a fair and possibly equal game play experience

Only thing I can think of that Iv seen lately that would fall under that would probably be afking in a battleground

Mog runs were someone is pulling before raid is there

I was about to post this same video.

You can’t grief like this anymore though. Interact works over players and has for a long time now.
Although I do remember the old christmas days… fond memories ngl

Okay THIS is the biggest example there is, and an absolute sin of the highest order. Everything else I read here is super easy, barely an inconvenience.

People quitting raid mid-pull are jerks but I don’t know I’d lump it under sabotage.

I’ve thought of game sabotage as like what tanks used to do back in… Cata?.. when they would get a random dungeon they didn’t like and would simply sit AFK without leaving the group because they didn’t want the deserter debuff, but you couldn’t kick them for a given amount of time either. (I don’t remember much of the details because it only happened to me once and it’s since been changed to prevent this from being a thing anymore.) Thus the group was stuck unable to proceed in the dungeon because they couldn’t bring in a new tank. That’s prevention of ability to play, which is how I read “sabotage”.

Did a m nathria run where some ret pally pulled and refused to die. Booting from raid didnt matter cause he was in combat so we just had to wait until he messed up and bought the farm.

Was annoying

Best example I can think of right now:

You are doing Field of Ferocity and you start the event. You’re waiting for Maneet or another boss to come down and become attackable. As soon as he becomes attackable, another group who doesn’t want to wait or help you kill it, standing on the platform where the quest starter is located, taunt taunt taunt and your boss will reset and disappear, allowing them to start whichever one they are working on.

I’d be thinking that way also. Sabotage is deliberately doing something that interferes with a game option. Its not possible to judge whether someone leaving a group (either a raid or a pug dungeon) is done to cause other people problems - which is why I wondered if any criteria for the report had been provided.

I’d say that a classic example would be somebody killing off all the quest givers in a certain area preventing the completion of quests. But agaim, without definition that’s just my guess.

People using it to report someone leaving a M+ is very iffy. While it might be annoying, the person has every right to leave an instance at any time and for any reason. If it was otherwise there would be some real news about that because it happens so often.

I believe it’s been there ever since the Social Contract went live, way back in Shadowlands…

You don’t play many BGs or something? People are constantly calling out “report _____ for gameplay sabotage” along with the usual “report _____ afk” in BGs, and in epic BGs especially :joy:

This must be for the new M+ key leavers, but some people leave for a legit reason like group not progressing forward into the key for 20+ pulls. It must be based on a he said, she said bases. I think a -200 M+ point for quitting a key should be more legit than not knowing what actually happened bases.
