pain suppression is only one character, while classes like shaman have 2-3 full group pain suppression.

No, I just did a +5 with no issues. I’ve been playing Disc for a few years now. I believe they need to give us our dmg back that they nerfed us on but I’m pretty happy with it right now.
It’s by far the best shields in the game.
It does pretty even damage with other healers at high keys.

Shamans have no good external except SLT, which isn’t anything like pain supp?
Atonement is for burst heals, and does a good job of it. It’s not good sustained healing.
Pretty par for the course since disc got the niche it was given.
It’s really hard to balance damage to heal. We are either dealing too much damage and are mandatory for pushing or we aren’t and our healing is garbage. It’s a rough thing. Disc is in an okay place at the moment. But it’s a very delicate balance.
gonna be honest, with the pro’s list you just made i think Shadow could literally outheal disc right now. and vampiric embrace is far better then atonement
Uh, Spirit shell absorbs ~20k damage each time it’s up. Not sure what Holy has that can absorb 20k damage.
Verifiably false, just go to warcraftlogs statistics, look at healers. Paladins are the only ones out-dpsing regularly and that’s only really at very high percentile parses.
Most my healing comes from Atonement/Spirit shell. Looking at logs, most Disc priests are mostly healing off Spirit shell. Looking at M+ players at the top, most the healing is still atonement (though shadowmend does make some comeback).
OK, but what you said was that shamans have better externals. And Pain Supp and Barrier are both very good still?
Well it’s certainly worse than just a renew/rejuv, but I think you know that and are trolling. But if you’re not, this is just wrong, I guess.
i think you’re just outplaying the game and dont want to admit how bad and pointless disc is. you could do all that in holy and possibly 1 less player in the group. you’re group would likely be much happier.
The purpose of disc is to mitigate big damage income when there are mechanics with movement that you aren’t able to heal up in time.
Such as the last phase of Huntsman, Artificer’s Tank bomb, Hungering Destroyer’s Desolate, Council’s Dark recital + Drain essence, Sludgefist’s Chainslam + roar and many more.
Pain suppression is single but pwb isn’t. You should pop that rapture is a group wide beef shield for big damage.
You’re right that holy does do more damage, however disc will always end up with more dps. Because we don’t have to stop fighting to heal where as they do.
This is in no way an attack on you. I am by no means a perfect disc player. However, it does to me sound like you need to practice a bit more and that you’re gimping yourself by not doing all you can. Just need some more practice. Or not - if the balancing act isn’t for you then move on. Nothing wrong in that. It’s not for everyone. As I said I’m not perfect. So take what you what from this post.
Thank you. I agree with every point and I have been playing Disc since BC. But now get ready for the “git gud” posts from people in raid guilds and consistent groupings.
I switched to Holy this xpac and it’s been good. Did a heroic and ended as the second highest DPS on boss fights
Did a +8 as 179ilvl and survived and timed.
Only issue is their isn’t much mitigation so the tank can go splat if your not paying attention and their isn’t much self survivability if your GA is down.
