I’ve been flying around on dragons for over a decade.
How is this supposed to be an “EXPANSION FEATURE!” It doesn’t make any sense to me lol you just fly around on a dragon???
You can get different appearance effects for it I guess, who cares whatever lame.
What is the purpose of this supposed to be?? I just don’t get it.
EDIT: Apparently it’s just time gating. It’s the “Pathfinder” system but slightly different so that the content can be piecemealed out to us while making people grind this new system. Wonderful. Just wonderful.
Basically “how to train your dragon” but wow style.
In seriousness your dragon has to be trained how to fly and it’s usable at the start. You get different animations and abilities as you kevel up your dragon and the dragon’s design is fully customizable once you reach a specific level
Seems like a progression system to add more play time and while it may be cool for the first 5 minute will instantly become pointless and only added as an expansion feature because they needed another feature and this wont take a lot of resources to do. Hope I’m wrong and its cool though!
I may be a little cynical at this point but i believe it’s just a new way to slowly give flight back, like it’s taken away again and then we have to slowly learn how to ride dragons, it’ll probably just end up being a few extra animations or an occasional speed boost ability.
If I understand correctly, they’re going to be implementing a sort of physics-based approached to flight this time around, similar to the flying in Guild Wars 2. What we have now is basically swimming without water, this will likely be more about momentum, altitude, angles, etc.
At least it’s a better reason than “you just can’t fly here until we say so”.
For what purpose are they doing this? It seems like such wasted resources when time and effort and development should be put into other things, like raids, dungeons, world content, etc.
I don’t think anyone will care about being able to flap around in a circle and do a barrel roll while pressing auto run key and flying to the next wq.
It’s a new type of annoying grind system where they act like we can fly from the very start of 10.0 like everyone wants, but to punish us because they don’t like flying they will make it some annoying grind that’s annoying to level and time gated, so we can’t just use it like a regular mount and only certain times or on some unnecessary cooldown until we level up something that makes it the way it SHOULD be on launch to begin with.
It is Skyscale from Guild Wars 2. It is pretty fun there, but it is the peak form of flying in that game at the moment whereas it is significantly weaker than the flying already available in WoW. Might be fun, at least they didn’t copy GW2’s Gryphon.
The Dragon Riding thing is like a stealthy version of Pathfinder, where they try and con people into believing they will actually get full flight at the start of the expansion…
