I am intrigued by the idea of Classic+ rather than TBC. I can think of a lot of ways that the base game can be improved, enhanced, and expanded without adding any new lands masses, etc. However I have a feeling my idea of Classic+ is not what people are talking about and I would rather hear other people’s ideas on this.
So, what does the idea of Classic+, whether you like it or not, mean to you?
You hit upon the crux of the issue. So many people want classic+ but different versions of it.
Quality of life changes
Horizontal or vertical progression
Pvp system changes
Balance changes
Tier gear changes
Profession changes
Everyone has different ideas on what should happen.
It would be an absolute mess trying to make everyone happy.
2 options I would be fine with, all new content never seen before OR release TBC and even WotlK and any other expansions but keep Classic feel, no flying mounts, never add dual spec or LFD/LFR, no catch up mechanics, etc. They have a ton of great content, quests, dungeons, raids they can use, just fix all the things they broke over the years and I would play through every single expansion again
I want two things, both things I think are reasaonble.
Firs tthing: a little bit of attention paid to spec balance.
There are a lot of long-standing issues with certain vanilla talent trees that wouldn’t change much about the game but would make a lot of players really happy.
For example, Moonfury only applies to the base spell damage (ie it isn’t applied after spell damage coefficients) which makes it a really terrible talent for 5 points. Making it scale properly won’t make Moonkins A or even B tier DPS, but it will make them considerably more rewarding to play. They also don’t have any gear at 60 (not even just from raids, from ANYTHING). Adding some spell damage leather with stats they want to the PVP vendor or to Stratholme or even to raid loot tables wouldn’t kill anyone.
Second: I’d like future expansions to eventually come, but altered to conform to Vanilla sensibilities.
Well i know one of classics biggest issues is poor gear itemization for some specs that wouldn’t be such meme specs if there was gear for them at end game. prot/ret pallies need plate with int and mana regen on it. feral tanks would do well with high armor leather that had +defense on it and so on. weather they add these items to existing loot tables or build new raids and dungeons for them that fit in with classic lore is what i would like to see.
I’ve always considered Classic+ to be expansions built on Classic rather than just re-releasing TBC, WotLK…
In other words, add new content to Classic style gameplay while keeping old content relevant. As I understand, there are plenty of unfinished areas and plenty of story left to explore in the original Azeroth.
I just don’t understand why people want classic+. Just more raid tiers? So another gear grind?
Atleast with BC i get more talents, better class balance, new skills and abilities, heroic dungeons, 10 man raids, new battlegrounds, better professions.
See now, I call that a feature. Making the seemingly random gear from Vanilla work with for any spec with a little creativity was part of the fun but I’ve never been really competitive in PVP.
That said, I never thought transmog was a bad thing because everyone in top raids look the same and everyone else looks like fishing lures.
Only 15 posts in and we have many widely varied answers with contrasting core beliefs in what Classic+ is. Sounds like a fantastic idea to attempt to make a reality that totally wouldn’t be a nightmare of feature creep and unending conflict of people insisting what should/shouldn’t be in Classic+.
I bet project managers across the globe are excited at the idea of developing this idea and business value would be rated at through the roof. /s
I just want to clarify that if Classic+ doesn’t happen I understand why and I’m not mad about it. I was just saying what I think would make the most sense.
Giving a little love to bad specs both with some buffs and gear tables
The talent trees to make each toon different even with the same gear.
Recommend that the “Classic” take it slow and not add new content too soon. I hope this is not a repeat of the original WoW timeline. This “Classic” in a lot cases is a nastalgic journey for players that were playing back 15 years ago and also for players that weren’t playing when the original WoW came out. Those 40 man raids/dungeons, whew very intense! So much content and aspects to enjoy of the WoW Classic journey!!
Classic+ to me if just fleshing out the main maps… we have so many areas that are undeveloped that were promised for vanilla… many ended up making it in later expansions…
