What is best rogue spec currently?

I play assassin rogue and it feels squishy and like I’m not doing enough damage. I think I read SUB rogue is doing better than assassin right now?

Assassination rogue will be the best in after tier set is equipped.

I’ve always been in the mindset that the best spec will be the one you enjoy. If you don’t enjoy it, it’s going to be unfun to play and you will hate it.

Pretty much this. Unless you’re a week one CE player just play what you enjoy.

This question is extremely variable, you need to be more specific about what content you’re doing.

Well…your profile is hidden and you gave 0 details. When my profile is hidden I at least describe what the issue is.

Right now mathematically speaking if all you use if cov abilities nothing else, you will do 2.7x as much damage in necro as you will in Venth. Do what you want to do though. See that rogue Prothethood is not a necro but she is tearing it up in keys and raids and keys and PvP. They are Vneth which is second best Cov but a super skilled player such as Prophet can overcome the difference.

It really sucks how so many people play what they are advised to play instead of what they want to play and if you do that, you will never be able to put your heart fully into it and you will not do as well as you should be doing.

Necro and Venth are the only two ways to go on a rogue.

Too many player were unsubbing because their spec was nerfed or buffed so Blizz as of recent years has tried to balance specs to where you can do your fav spec and still get done what you want to get done in that spec.

Dont know if you are wanting to PvP or PvE or do raids or dungeon keys or all of the above… vague. More detail so you can get more help.

edit made typos… dont feel like fixing. Deal with it.

I’m a Night Fae actually. I thought Sepsis was supposed to be good for Assassin rogue? Does it suck now or something?

NF will be the best for assassination once double legendaries are in the game and you have your 4pc set bonus, but Venth+cov legendary has been generally the best for a while outside of that. (from a single-target damage perspective anyway.)

As for ‘feeling squishy’ welcome to rogue this expansion. Switching from asn to sub isn’t going to help that at all. Both specs are comparable damage-wise so in general you’ll do better as whichever one you know how to play better. Unless you’re talking AOE, assassination is terrible for that.

Dmg is low overall and play is ridiculously slow. That favors pve’ing people down like assassination does.

Why they thought eviscerate needed to have its dmg per combo point numbers inverted almost exactly with rupture as subtlety, i have no clue.

I have a hybrid pve/pve spec i play with some success, but basically with 9.2 they cooked the perfect atmosphere for pveing people down, dampening, and painfully slow games.

You will have some success with sub pve specs in pvp, but the numbers for 9.2 are stupid low for almost most classes. If the dmg profiles stay the same, they expect you to have shadowblades up most of the time, via tier set procs, be getting more combo points, and doing more smaller eviscerates.

Smaller eviscerates. Dmg per combo point inverted on sub, pve’ing people down… which i played a full single target pve sub spec last night in pvp, and did better over the long run than my pvp spec.

If it looks like BFA and, smells like BFA, you might think about playing another game for the season.

This is the worst possible version game to test the solo brawl in. Slow damp, nothing dies, snooze fest where most classes are most comp dependent than they were before 9.2.

Solo yet more dependent upon other classes and people to kill…. Does that even make sense?

I dont really do PvP much in WoW because i think its trash honestly. Its usually not fun imo.

Here is some early and limited info from Sepulcher of the First Ones…https://youtu.be/znOc_nATJ_c

I’ve played through them all and they play ok depending on what you want. I can play sub, but outlaw and sin are my two favorites to bounce between. Honestly find what you like and the rest kinda falls into place.

So, assassination aoe is really dependent on your crit with fan.
Out of stealth you can fan, rupture, tab target, fan, rupture, tab target, fan, rupture, tan target and you may have to fan more than once at this point. BUT!
If you can get 5 full ruptures out and get a full blade aoe down, you can then hit your CDs on the main kill target and straight up go to town. It does feel good in higher keys where you have time to set it up.
Sub is just a 2 button aoe really.

Sub is the strongest st, aoe, funnel.
It is the weakest at low target cleave. 4pc makes it ok at cleave. Misusing cooldowns makes it the most punishing spec for learning. General rotation buttons are very simple though.

Assa has the best 2 target, unkown how it measures up to 3 and 4 vs outlaw. Easiest ST rotation, magnitudes more demanding for every target you add in.

Outlaw is the weakest ST. Chaotic rotation that falls under the “plate-spinning” archetype. Any targets over one and you simply press blade flurry while continuing the same rotation. Uniquely low cds on utility abilities like cloak thanks to shadowdust legendary being meta with double leggos.

im sub and sub is garbage. assassins is best overall.

Sub is definitely not garbage.

Lol. You trying to play Kyrian sub?

Shocking that the guy who hasn’t figured out you get 230 ilvl for free is struggling with sub.
