I’ve mainly played on PVP servers, and have never really given RP a shot. However, any time I hear someone talk about an RP-PVP server, it is usually talked about in high regard. That said, what specifically makes these types of servers so special? I’m genuinely curious (personal anecdotes and experiences appreciated!)
Faction rivalry is cranked to the maximum here. People are more invested to their character.
Not an avid roleplayer, but since coming here I’ve taken part of some rp.

Adding the extra element of the possibility of something wants to, and can very much kill you around any given corner really serves up a different tone while leveling. And any BS you have to put up with while leveling is worth being able to participate in endgame world PVP events, its like adding a whole extra slice of the pie at the end game, along with raiding, BGs, and gold making.
Lol well damn. I may not explicitly get into the RP, but I’d love to be witness to it all.
How about endgame raiding? Is that still popular among the RP-PVP community?
Raiding is there on RP-PVP servers. ED and I assume Grobb will have at least 2 or 3 high end raiding guilds but not anywhere near the levels of other servers. It’s all about the faction/guild rivalries. It’s just not a big thing. Most people are either RPing or WPvPing.
Fair enough, but if I was so inclined as to find a group to raid with, it’s not like it would be impossible, right?
No. I do know the Warbringer [A] is pretty well known for raiding. They were one of the first guilds on ED to down M Sarg. Pretty sure they have a guild recruitment page up for Grobb as well.
I failed the Test of Lore, and had the prominent ‘Mark of Shame’ upon my person. I was mercilessly mocked by undead, troll, and orc alike as I quickly ran out of the depths of the Undercity.
As I stood on the Zepplin tower, a friendly warlock attempted to ‘dispel’ the mark - to no avail. I sadly informed him, “Ya can’t fix stupid.” I was chided by another troll to learn my history.
It was great.
You would have no problem finding a raiding guild. I see guild recruitment messages up all the time. Last night when i was in IF, The Enclave had just finished their raid and were celebrating the eye of Sulfuras drop in front of the IF bank. Plenty of raiders around.
I saw a gnome in a suit in ironforge fussing at people who were sitting behind the counter in the bank. I love this server.
I’ve also noticed, for the most part, that people tend to be considerably nicer on RP servers.
Just watch out for the enclave. Haven’t met a nice one yet.
Why what have they done?
If you really into PVP mix with some story telling, this is one the best servers to be.
(I am not trying to promote anything here disclaimer)
DD is WRA and Grob is ED.
I would say if there is a workshop on Grob, check it out on how to develop your character as its your backstory. Be respectful if the guild or individuals are RPing out in the world, granted they are in a RP-PVP server so WPVP does/will happen. Just be respectful if its a “planned” event.
Welcome to Grobbulus, but I am not apart of the cool kids group. hahhaha
Essentially a cringe cult full of sweaty tryhards.
He’s horde. We aren’t supposed to be nice to him. If you have any questions, I’d be happy to answer them.
How do you know I am sweaty?
It’s a ton of fun. There are some really talented RPers around, and also lots of players who are good at the mechanical side of WoW. Prepare to get ganked a bit, but if you roll a new character with some friends, you can also have some fun doing some ganking. And strictly speaking I’m not really a RPer but I respect people who enjoy it and don’t interfere with it, and seeing people at it around town helps keep me immersed in the game.
This server is really great, I firmly believe if you roll here you won’t regret it. It’s very nice that the population is close to 50/50 as well, at least as far as we can tell currently.
If you’re a part of the enclave, then you’re sweaty. Simple math.
