What is an Andy

I see this term used more and more lately on the SoD forums, and I have no idea what makes someone a “WoW Andy”.

No troll, just curious.

What is a Joe, and what makes someone a Joe Average?

AFAIK, it’s just a euphonic term that’s used for no other reason. Also, on Crusader Strike, there’s an Orc rogue named Classicrandy. I know, because he got me on the road in Feralas today.

Hats off to you Classicrandy!

Calling someone an andy is a very generic insult that just makes me roll my eyes. A guy from SoD complained last week on GD that Retail raids were too hard and they should only have one, easy difficulty. At some point he couldn’t come up with a good reply to someone, so he called them a retail andy.

Look at this, not-knowing-what-andys-are-andy.

doesnt really have a meaning per say usually just refers to whatever the person is doing e.g. classic andy is someone who is just a classic player

usually has a deeper meaning tho some people use the term to make fun of classic only players etc.

A casual player, or retailer.

Its a pg slur because if you use hard slurs that are racist or homophobic youll get banned these days. Gamers have to evolve their lingo with the times to avoid bans

No, this is Patrick.

Just a reference used as a suffix to what someone is doing meant in a derogatory way.
Similar to using Bro as a suffix, like NFT bros or Gym bros.

A Classic Andy is basically someone who plays Classic.

someone that doesnt play retail.

a classic andy is like an apple fanboy or similar. Just someone that goes around saying how classic is superior to anything else. Asmondgold coined it and its kinda lame

Andy means they are White knight and fanboi, and they are persistent what ever version they play is the only real version.

It got coined around the time of WoW Classic launched and was used to talk about the “nochanges” andies who wanted the original release.

Now you got Classic Andies, Retail Andies, NoChange Andies…

and Forum Karens… don’t forget them!

It’s a generic insult for people who make generic commentary.

Andy just means Average Joe.

Now you got me singing in my head…

Every time I do, it makes me laugh”
