Alleria Windrunner just got introduced to us in the end of the legion. Then She tried to bring the Blood Elves back into the Alliance but failed and instead got Blue Smurf Blood Elves who were exiled. Then She meet her sisters including Sylvanas and then the Battle for Lordaeron came and escape alive with Anduin and the others. After that Alleria stands on the Ship doing nothing but giving out upgardes and that’s it.
Has Alleria done anything interesting in this Expansion aside Blueberry Kael’thas 2.0 taking the spotlight?
She’s treated more like a Prop just like her Sister Vereesa.
Though, I do think it’s important that she said she should have killed Sylvanas the time they met before the Battle for Lordaeron. I think it’s important that even one of her sisters knows Sylvanas is too far gone and dangerous to be left (un)alive.
We’re only in the first patch. What we’ve got isn’t satisfying, I agree, but let’s not pretend we’re running out of time for Alleria and other characters to have the spotlight.
I wonder where Vereesa is, has her grief for her sister made her neutral somehow, or will she be absent this entire expansion for “reasons”? It would be interesting character development, if she opts out of the faction war over love for Sylvanas.
Alleria for her part has participated in the Alliance War Campaign, unlike most of the racial leaders, helping Shandris hunt down Gallywix. There is also the matter of the Old God whispers, “When the arrow finds its mark, the last fetter will fall away.” This implies Alleria may yet have an important future role to play.
I am hoping Alleria kills Saurfang. She is an Orc Slaying Orc hater. I could see her hunting Saurfang and killing him - if Anduin and Shaw don’t tell her they released him.
I hoped Tyrande would kill him. Maybe he would die happy and deem it justice served for his crimes.
But it would be in character for Alleria to do it, too.
Yeah, what has Alleria been up to since she tried to blow up the sunwell and summon a void lord to consume all of Azeroth? Apart from not spending time with Turalyon, that is.
Stop that. There was no active attempt on Alleria’s part to damage the Sunwell or bring Void beings onto Azeroth. She actively fights against them alongside the player character.
She sure didn’t slay the orc player character when she worked alongside them on Argus. It’s almost as if you’re spouting headcanon.
I sincerely wish Tyrande just dies herself- she’s so dull and uninspiring-- she’s like a secondary character compared to Genn and Shaw at this point despite desperately being put on the spotlight to be a main.
You should read Beyond the Dark Portal. Alleria loves killing Orcs. It is not head canon. She is Orc killing crazy. She revels in it.
From Wowpedia:
ultimately, she chose to dedicate herself to revenge.
To the horror of her friends, Alleria came to see the orcs as little more than vermin to be exterminated.
She did “let go of her hate” when she realized how much she cared for Turalyon. But even still, on the Vindicaar, she says: “I refuse to believe Sylvanas leads the Horde. Not after all they did to my people during the war.”
It is not head canon.
The Horde Player might not even be canon if they assign the Argus campaign to the Alliance. I don’t think that has been hammered out - I haven’t read the latest Chronicles.
The only Horde members on that ship as canon fact for sure, other than the Player Character, are Elves.
Assuming an Orc Player is the canon Argus champion is head canon on your part… while there actually is dialogue on the Vindicaar expressing her contempt for the Horde.
All three of them are secondary characters, tbh. I guess Genn and Shaw make appearances in cinematics from time to time, but we barely ever explore their depth of character compared to, say, Jaina or Saurfang.
Keep in mind, just because we don’t see a character doing something, does not mean they aren’t doing anything. During Legion a lot of players would say, “Jaina abandoned Azeroth and is sitting somewhere twiddling her thumbs, waiting for the planet to be destroyed because she’s that vindictive!” Then there were players who argued, “No way, she’s probably fighting the Legion off screen on her own, there’s no way she would sit this out like that.” Lo and behold we later learn through a Warbringers comic that she had spent the duration of Legion killing demons and protecting Azeroth.
I imagine it’s much the same for Alleria. When she’s not on duty at the ship, she’s off finding Orcs for Target Practice.
I’m sure Alleria is doing off screen stuff, which is fine? I’d prefer her out in the world, but I get it, it’s “more inticing” to have a major lore character give out upgrades than some random NPC. Granted I’d prefer the random NPC but I get having Alleria give them out initially can give good vibes.
I’m sure shes off doing the hunting of Orcs and doing Voidy things with the Voidy Elves.
On the Vindicaar (which is 1000 years after for her as you say, and before Teldrassil) she expresses contempt for the Horde and disbelief that Sylvanas would lead it.
So… despite the 1000 years and without the Burning of Teldrassil, she feels that way.
Unless you think Teldrassil burning made her love Orcs for some reason… her opinion of the Horde is expressed on the Vindicaar.
Yeah. She hasn’t experienced the Horde for a thousand years. Her view of them is likely outdated, yet she’s still willing to work with them on Argus. Painting it as “crazy orc-killing racist Alleria” when her opinion with them was largely in line with their behavior during the First and Second War, and then having her see them do basically more of the same upon her return, is largely disingenuous.
