Yes I know it’s a survival hunter ability. But what is the actual concept? Is it meant to be like a grenade? Or is it like a cocktail of natural poisons and toxins that burn the target? I like the idea of it being the latter. Like it’s a thing these resourceful folk cobble together while out in the wild, rather than something they buy at an army surplus store.

I did have the thought recently that maybe they took some inspiration from the hunters in Bloodborne. They use melee weapons but also chuck some bombs around I think (never played it).
Greek Fire or Napalm? I think that was the original idea, I know the target doesnt catch on fire.
SV was such a blast to play last time I messed with it…like Fury warrior with a pet.
But I just cant get past the bomb thing lol.
Yeah it’s always been a bee in my bonnet. Throwing bomb at an enemy in melee range. With your pet right there as well! It’s very silly. And not exactly conducive to one’s survival. It is fun though.
The original Survival for hunter back in TBC was trap based. It was top tier for raids like Mt. Hyjal. Basically volly, multi-shot, and traps.
It’s a volatile grenade.
I like to headcanon it as magical red Dragonsfire so the concept of throwing an explosive point blank doesn’t bother me.
How do I acquire something that would technically be a gift from the Red flight?
Dunno, don’t think about it, I’ve got bombs to huck and stabbin’ to do.
All I know is survival has always been based around explosives and traps, so it’s something I don’t really put too much actual though into.

SV just feels hacked together with the harpoon and bombs.
If others enjoy it, keep it like it is…I just choose not to play it.

To me, Survival implies scrapping up whatever helps you to survive. I always assumed Wildfire Bombs were scrapped together with some combustible stuff, resin, tar, whatever, roll it into a ball, put a wick on it and hurl it at whatever is wanting to contest that ‘survival’ thing.
If you’re a goblin, you can find something explosive laying around, even in the most nonexplosive of places!

im assuming the whole fantasy behind Survival is supposed to be something more tribalistic/trap based. so wildfire bomb is like a tribesman’s version of a molotov in the wild
