I keep seeing this pop up, what is this new word people are using?
I’m not entirely sure, but I think it’s their way of telling WoW to give up
It’s a word that nerds say when they don’t get what they want.
A buzzword used by minmaxers trying to get rid of a perfectly functional system
the devs said in shadowlands if the covs didn’t work they would pull the ripcord meaning bonus stuff covs giv.
pull the ripcord is just the community telling them to do it now cause we have no faith in them.
The rip cord is a system that Ion (The lead game dev) said they had in place in case the covenant system implodes in on itself and they need to separate the player power from the covenants themselves.
Then in his post today said that it doesn’t actually exist (Physically exist at least.)
A ripcord is a cord that is pulled to open a parachute. Except if your using a goblin made parachute then it doesn’t work or it explodes and you plummet to your death!
It’s the cord that is up the main wow developers bungus and everyone wants to watch him pull/rip it out.
beyblade lol jk
in all seriousness. a new system is being implemented in shadowlands that people arent happy about. and in an interview with the game director he said there was a “ripcord” to rip out the system (things they hate about it anyways) if it was that unfavorable.
but it turns out that was just one of his two faced lies like many others from being a blue collar lawyer with zero game dev/design experience before becoming a blizz employee.
the system is so implemented apparently they cant revert it
There’s probably nothing funnier in the community then when WoW players call other WoW players nerds as an insult lol
Hey go talk to Rogues about how functional this system is.
Nah we’re all nerds here though some are nerdier than others
Wasn’t it Ion’s term for the situation?
So, not really the community, but him that came up with it.
Ion used it in a sentence - it was the community that turned that word into . . . what exactly? A meme? A movement?
Ripcord: A cord that is pulled to open a parachute.
Ion used this word as a metaphor when saying that if all else failed they could “pull the ripcord” and remove the covenant restrictions, which led to a vocal group of players demanding they “pull the ripcord”.
It actually originated from Ion.
In an interview with Preach about Covenants, Ion said “We’re ready to pull the ripcord at anytime.” But they wanted to see feedback first.
My theory is they didn’t get the feedback they wanted on covenants and want to live test it before they do any actual changes.
We have it the best
We have a no brainer best covenant for every bit of content in the game which spreads across all specs
If it releases like that I don’t have to worry about it
