What inspired your character's name?

So I’ll start with me…

Green Thumb is a popular controller layout for Halo that has an emphasis on melee over anything else. So naming my character that both makes sense thematically because he has a green thumb and he’s primarily melee.

Love to here what everyone else has got!

Randomly generated when this character was created as a Night Elf in 2005.

I stopped caring about character names, whenever I make a new character now I use a baby name website, African/Celtic/Irish/Dutch whatever looks good and I think players will be able to say is what I pick.

Sometimes I alter names though, like changing Carmine to Kaurmine or Donothelios to Dono

I should probably include 3 of my other Dks:

One of them is an anagram of my real name
One of them is named after a girl that i had crush on and failed miserably
One of them is named after a Queen in Path of Exile

Mine is pretty simple. She’s a Frost DK, representing the most unforgiving aspects of cold and winter much like the deep arctic. Granted I did do an accidental misspell, but it works out still. I may see if I can fix it later or rename her to another cold name.

Also it makes sense given she’s a vulpera. Sethrak need heat to survive. So she’ll steal the warmth of life from them.

I originally wanted a botanical name from one of Tolkein’s elf languages. They were all taken. Then I figured I’d go with an English botanical name. This was basically the only one available.

The name of this character is the junction of three words in my language that means something like “Evil brings bad luck”.

Bomar was named after a meme created from a failed football player by the name of Rhett Bomar who became a DnD npc character on one of my old favorite streamers streams. Bomar was the “special” bread maker who would offer sell you bread at his loss while offering his optimistic “Hello!” Every time the party ran into him which was pretty much every town they went to they would meet Bomar. To the point where the chat made Bomar like a demigod in that world.

And that is the tale of why I choose Bomar.

Also I’m Greenthumbs main.

Bluster here was just a random word that happened to be available when I first came to Area 52 at the end of MoP. No real inspiration and it wasn’t even this characters name at the time, but I’ve had to keep it because forum stats are based on name-server and I’m too invested to start over.

The characters I actually play are all on Alliance and have my own name, family names or pet names. I got pretty lucky during the big name releases and got most of the real names I wanted on Moon Guard, so I was very happy about that.
