What... IN... THE... WORLD is going on?

This is gonna be a rant. You are warned. WHY do you feel it necessary to keep changing this game? I’ve been VERY patient with all these changes, and I’ve even tried not to delete my account. BUT NOW, now you have it that no matter WHERE I go, everything scales to my level which is total CRAP cos the items that I get from lower level quests are crap and not my level. SO WHAT IS THE POINT in raising the levels of all enemies but giving out vender trash from the quests? A lot of people will quest in places at there level until they are maxed level, then go back and quest in low level areas to get achievements. That is what I do. Now, when I get quests that say I need 3 people, I really will need 3 freaking people just to complete some low level quest. If you want people to quit this game. Congratulations. YOU ARE SUCCEEDING!

Sadly, the game isn’t very good at communicating what you’re meant to do.

I would highly suggest you go to Boralus/Tiragarde Sound like the game was gently nudging you to.

You’ll earn the best money there, and if you’re a new player then you needn’t be feeling like you’re burnt out on seeing that area.

If the game is instead nudging you to go to Oribos/The Maw, that’s probably even better money/equipment-wise.

Since you’re a first-time player, you’re not able to activate Chromie Time (which is kinda dumb…), so you should go wherever they are trying to send you.

I agree this is the best experience for a player and that they don’t do a good enough job of shoving the new players down that track. I had two friends pick up the game and they ended up wandering off and doing pet battle and anniversary stuff after they got out of exiles reach. Now they had fun at first but the game looks like a janky POS from any new players perspective going that route. They ended out at the caverns of time entrance getting one shot by Doom Walker thinking that this was just how the game is. I had to go get them with a mage and get them back on the BFA track, they never would have made it to 60 without that guidance and now they are in love the game and will be purchasing DF (blizzard give me free game time) but that never would have happened without my help.

This game is in a state where new players will likely never get to 60 and keep playing unless they have another player help them very very early and that needs to change for the long term health of the game.

Scaling is BROKEN.

BlizZard you had ONE JOB to do.

And even when presented with an easy win they can not do it.

Yeah, really, all they’d have to do, is make that “all enemies and gear scale to your level” that Chromie Time does, apply to the whole game, always.

Does it matter where a newbie goes to quest? Why is that OK for a non-newbie to quest in, say, Northrend or Pandaria and not OK for anybody else?

Or, if you’re not gonna allow Chromie Time, then how about just straight up force the player into whatever expansion you think newbies ought to go?

Giving them the choice and then scaling mobs to their level without letting them have level-appropriate quest rewards is just stupid.

Don’t scale the mobs at all, then. that way if they go to a grey area that’s too low level then they know “THIS AIN’T WHERE I’M SUPPOSED TO BE” and they’ll go somewhere that they ARE supposed to be.

They do. They force new players into BFA. And if you are alliance, they force you to go to Tiragarde Sound.

Then WTF is the OP on about, then?

They’re acting like they are a newbie without Chromie Time and they are somehow managing to level up outside of BfA.

I don’t think they are a newbie because their complaint is about max level.

They seem to be complaining about needing 3 people to kill a group quest boss at max level.

Just because you’re max level doesn’t mean you’re not a newbie.

The OP sounds like someone who got to max level and somehow doesn’t understand how the game works, lol.

Though to be honest, I was almost sure that once you hit max level, stuff stops scaling and returns to what the maxes of any given place should be. Like, I know for a fact that stuff stops scaling at level 50 in BfA once Chromie Time wears off. I was able to kill a rather powerful Group 5 enemy because I was 53 and they were 50 and I abused Second Wind on my warrior to pull it off.

But, newbies might not realize that strategies like this exist.

They didnt give us enough context in their post, but current content always scales to max level. So, if it was a SLs group boss it would scale to 60 which may still be difficult to solo if they didnt get any gear first.

Complaints of too much holding and complaints of little to no hand holding.

This is why Blizzard doesn’t listen to any of you.

I have no idea. Only BfA scales to 60. :woman_shrugging:t4:

This has changed.

Having just gone to check a moment ago, I know for a fact that BfA zones now scale all the way to 60.

Life is full of change, deal with it.

Thanks for checking, I didn’t know that.

I guess it could be frustrating to go from being max level to not being able to clear group quest mobs from the previous x-pack because they scale.

Agreed. I was never a fan of this change and it’s always the example I use when I say “Just because another game does it, that does not mean that it is good for WOW.”

Yes right now it is BFA still the go to expansion for new players. But scaling is broken in all other expansions now as well outside of chromie time.

I’m beyond frustrated with the game right now. I can’t wait for the expansion to release

The expansion release is going to make things worse. Grab your popcorn as we have seen the worst in beta.

I don’t so much mind the scaling, it’s the half-baked nature of it like many things in WoW that I dislike.

Scale the mobs? Meh. Not my first preference, but I can accept it if it is done properly.

Don’t scale the mobs? Even better.

But whatever you do, do it right and stop half-baking everything to rush it out the door.

What Blizz SHOULD have done, during the FIRST Stat Squish was standardize everything, because they should have known that stat and level squishes would be necessary and for these to work as smoothly as possible, everything needed to be redesigned from the ground up to make future expansions a lot less painful.

Now, obviously, that’s not how the game was designed originally but when it became obvious that such squishes would be necessary, they should have taken the time to do it right instead of rushing a half-baked solution out the door.

If they had but just done that, then maybe we would have systems where stuff would scale properly at all levels.
