What ilvl will we be by the end?

By the end of BFA? I’m guessing since most are around the 420-430 ilvl mark atm, by the end of the expac we would be, what? 460-470ish?

485

Next expansion will hand you 505 ilvl stuff

Then go from there

Looking at bears and DKs with 1.2m hp pools like MoP . God i cant wait

The level squish is going to disappoint so many people :stuck_out_tongue:

Since the numbers are completely arbitrary, what does it matter if their scale changes?

No! No more lvl squish!

I want chaos bolts to hit for 800k again!

Having smaller numbers tends to make upgrades more noticeable with more excitement around each upgrade. Larger numbers (especially when combined with constant upgrades) tends to dilute the importance of each individual upgrade with a more constant stream of small excitement

Just look at what WoD/Legion was, follow the same path. Its set up for a ilvl squish every 2 expansions.

Well I can think of 1 thing. After the first ilvl squish, all the old raids suddenly became twice as difficult to farm. It wasn’t until at least a couple months of gearing that things went back to normal.

The old raids were initially an issue due to balancing. It wasn’t so much the gear that helped them to become easy again, but they slowly unrolled old raid balancing as well. Happened at the beginning of BFA. There were mechanics, etc that were not being scaled properly making some fights impossible (or nearly so).

Old raid content isn’t seen as a high priority on the opening month of a new expansion.

Why does it matter if something hits for 800 or 8,000,000 if it’s relative to enemy health? I never understood this need for huge numbers.

Cos for some people it’s all they have going for them :stuck_out_tongue:

Only 800k? I will crit for 2 million!

theres nothing exciting by seeing a crit for 12 or 800

Why? If the mob has 1000 health and you crit for 800 I’d say that’s a pretty exciting crit.

i like big numbers, you like small numbers

to each their own

You’re mistaken on that. I don’t care what the numbers are I’m saying the 800 crit on 1000 health mob is the exact same as a 800,000 crit on a 1,000,000 health mob. Literally the same thing.

Then why the need for small numbers?

Some people prefer big numbers. Some prefer small. It’s not the size that counts. It’s how you use it. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

and i just told you, i like big numbers.

Pretty much should repeat prior xpacs pre-squish. We get up in the 600s then boom, reset for next xpac.

Although it does feel like the target in BfA is 500 ish. I’m a bit surprised that they haven’t introduced BiS legendaries yet - that has been a go-to move in prior xpacs. If 8.3 does happen (at the moment I’m betting on a radical change and skipping to 9.0 much sooner to try to get past BfA), then maybe they will make legendary upgrades for the azerite pieces… I could see that working.
