Hypothetically how would you feel if wow’s difficulty was cranked up to 11 and gave a dark soul or harder experience from level one?
I’d quit the game. I like easy games.
It would see the same fate Wildstar did.
You had the opportunity to say you would bubble hearth out of the game and you didn’t take it. I’m not mad at you Callieamaya I am just disappointed
There is a reason “Soulslike” is considered a niche genre.
Wouldn’t play it. I don’t have the smarts for it.
Look Pymuu you might not like hard games but don’t lie about yourself to me. You are awesome!
Oh I’m definitely awesome luv. But I know my limits including brain ones
Mythic raiding is already difficult enough to be accessible to only the top few percent of the playerbase.
Mythic+ keys become infinitely more difficult so that at some point they are too difficult to even complete.
PvP can be insanely difficult depending on your opponent’s skill and gear.
The difficulty is there for players that want it. Let all the other content be easy, or else you risk losing many subs.
It would have to play a lot differently, because much of WoW is lax positioning with auto-targeting.
For it to be as hardcore as you suggest, it would play like a completely different game, and I have no idea if I’d like it or not.
You mean like cata launch dungeons difficult?
The thing that had the vast majority of the playerbase crying til they were red in the face and had every dungeon gutted before the first patch?
Yea don’t think the game would do well
Mythic world difficulty would be incredible and would be able to make the entire world much richer.
I think this would probably have to come from private entities though (if they could survive the C&Ds such as those sent to nostalrius, et al), sadly.
Blizz was hard-fought enough just to give us classic. As absolutely incredible and fun as it would be to have a global mythic mode as a prestige-esque endgame mode that gives the entire game’s content scaled up replayability, it just doesn’t seem like something blizz would “agree” with
It would have died like all the hardcore games from EQ/EQ2 up to the current competitors have.
WoW succeeded BECAUSE it was the Hello Kitty Island Adventure game of it day. People claiming to be hardcore here is like bragging about being a hardcore Chutes and Laddewrs or Candyland or Farmville or Candy Crush player
Sadly, everyone who talks about the uptick in difficulty always seems to forget how much they screwed up healing at the same time. And how they never told the player base they had to adapt, Healers just got stuck with the headache until most quit.
I would say 50% of the Cata dungeon problems were healing changes related. Healers couldn’t fix stupid anymore and players just didn’t care.
People need to cool it with the “Dark Souls is the epitome of hard video games” thing. It’s not even hard. It’s just not a hack n slash. Literally the entire thing is designed around watching and learning before (actually) engaging. It’s not “hard”, it’s just different. It’s only hard if you try to approach it like Diablo 3.
My response to most things is “You can have whatever you want as long as it’s optional”
I’ve suggested a few times before Blizz to expand warmode tech to give players who want this their own little world.
WarMode for pvp as we all know it
NonWarMode for no pvp as we all know it
StoryMode = ¼th xp gains so people really can quest through an expansion (¼ pulled from bum, just a slower leveling mode, use whatever number makes sense)
InfernoMode = what the OP wants
Pre nerf Grim Batol was the real Maw.
I love hard, yet fair games, but wow already has harder modes in mythic raiding and higher M+. Turning up the baseline difficulty would probably kill the game.
Op,I’m barely hanging in this game if it does go hardcore I’m out.
Paladins would be the only played class
