What if WoW had a PvP focused expansion?

Ok, so that just sounds like BfA lol.

I’m p sure Ion’s pitch to us for BfA was quite literally that lol.

LOL, since when was that ever a reason for people to not complain. On any forums. Not just WoW GD

it would be the first expansion I would 100% not buy

BfA was a faction conflict war story. There was no focus on PvP gameplay.

I’d say a million people at least on the low end.

It would be more cost effective to take the game servers out back and magdump them

Lol no one thought it would flop, and they never said ‘never’, they just weren’t convinced it would be financially sound.

Making an pvp focused expansion would be a HUGE mistake, WoW is and always been primarily a PVE based game, your idea only appeals to a small minority of players, so if your goal is to kill WoW , that would do it,lol.

You don’t fundamentally change a game after 21 years, like i said, ask for a game mode like plunderstorm.

Be the first time since shadowlands I stopped my sub and waited til the next expac.

It woukd be shadowlands again but worse.

So the vast majority of people who prefer pve get no story, no raids,no dungeons, and no content that they have enjoyed for 21 years?

Just ask for another Wintergrasp,lol

Frankly if they made a pvp focused expansion I would quit through the entire expansion. PVP is just too stressful in general and I’m here to relax. I dont play anything that has competition between players at this stage of my gaming life unless it was playable offline.

If its 100% optional sure.

“What if WoW had a PvP focused expansion”

Only in an alternate reality.

  1. Too much tantrum/crying from the PvE base
  2. Blizz doesn’t know how to design and balance for fun unrated PvP which is what most people want to play
  3. Too much $$ would be lost due to the above.

Even if it’s not optional, it would sell a million at the very least on the low end, I’d think maybe 5-6 would be a more honest assumption though.

Why not 15 or 20 million?

It was though. A lot of the main story and quests in BFA involved the faction conflict.
Unfortunately war mode also showed that, for whatever reason, most players preferred PvE. I know because that was the expansion that destroyed world PvP on my server. I’d estimate less than 10% of the player base on my server turned war mode on.

It is unfortunate but the reality is modern retail WoW is not and cannot be PvP focused. I wish it was but the best we can hope for is better PvP content to be added alongside anything else.

This. Whenever I finish my PVE goals on WoW and nobody in my guild is logging on I hop on league 10/10 times. The days of wow pvp being a thing worth investing time into is wayyyyyyyyyy in the past now.

You seem to be the “expert” lol figure it out yourself. I can see it easily making 100 million copies sold, how about that?

I actually think PVP was the eng game back in the day. Once you were done with your raid, you would do PVP.

IMO, there are so many better PVP games out there that WOW just doesn’t cut it and you can do play one of those free PVP games if you want to get your PVP fill

battle for azeroth should have given us this pvp focused stuff
