I’d love it but the player-base would cower from that idea instantly.
well there wouldnt be a playerbase, lol
Yea there would, the “fearful” would run and hide though.
lol sure, all 4000 people that would be left :O)
4k? That’s peak delusion.
A lot more than that.
ok 4001 :O), do you think this would be a financially sound idea though honesty?
Have a good night
I’m sorry the big bad PVPers scared you so much.
do you think this would be a financially sound idea though honesty?
Remember when Blizzard said Classic would never happen and many thought it would flop? It turned out to be a huge success. A well-designed PvP-focused expansion could do the same, even if people think it’s risky, thoughtful systems could engage both PvE and PvP players.
And if it doesn’t, then the game dies. It’s a lot to bet on. You and I would find another game to play. The people who’s JOBS are on the line might be a little less casual about it.
You want an expansion with no plot and just a random ffa between players and you expect writers and developers to put such a thing together?
If it were a standalone expansion, more like DLC content then sure. Create a PvP DLC that caters to those players, make it $10 and see how many players buy it.
And then the first thing that will be complained about on the forums would be people saying that $10 is a rip off since it has no content, plot and is just a random FFA between players.
That’s the benefit of a standalone DLC, it’s purely optional, if you don’t want to buy then don’t.
Not at all, the idea isn’t “no plot.” The story could revolve around a massive, ongoing war where PvE and solo content feed the faction’s progress, while PvP players fight for territory, objectives, and rewards. The plot is just framed around player-driven conflict rather than only scripted PvE events.
We’ve defeated all the major villains, Old Gods, the Lich King, and every world-ending threat. With no new “big bad,” the story naturally shifts to player-driven conflict: PvP becomes the central narrative, while PvE still supports the war effort with resources, siege tools, and faction-wide bonuses.
I can’t say I want another war between player factions, though. Faction war was the worst part about BfA. I do not want to be fighting my fellow players. I would rather team up with em.
Edit: Not to mention that writing for a expansion like that would be terrible. If your enemy is other players, who can win? It would have to end with a stalemate, or both sides losing. A player faction beating another would just feel awful for the losing half. Better to have something we can beat up on and defeat together.
In the wow that killed faction tension. This would be…fortnight wow edition. last time they tried that it went over well. Seething shores with fortnight jet pack insertions make SOTA look like game award winning content.
This worked loooooong ago for warhammer for a reason. Order vs chaos. several player run races…who want to see others not live anymore. “bad” guys teamed up to take on “good” guys.
Goody two shoes high elf versus…blood ritual murder loving dark elves. I ran dark elves. You can either server Khaine in life as a slave…or die for his amusement and to be more blood in my bath. witch elves like blood baths, literally.
OR both, slave duty a bit and then try to live in arena fights. Dark elves are an elf race whose lore would have even queen anduin going these dudes need to be purged to the last one.
Orcs…humans are bad. see human, kill human. Humans to orcs…same thing. they just say for Sigmar to give religious credence lol.
Horde killed your spouse, your kids, your friends. what do you do? go bar hopping with them…duh? that is the wow we got. so how do we get pvp here. we fight as one common enemies.
It work, if we control the common enemy. NGL…it be cool to be “bad” side and control a murlock in “pvp”.
PvP was great during MoP.
Myself and friends ran BG’s back to back for most of the xpac. They were packed, not sure if that was due to cloaks or cus it was just that good back then, but I know the PvP vendor tower on the wall was pretty full too, for my Battlegroup anyway.
I don’t speak for anyone else though, just me, but my PvP game peaked in MoP, gearing was simple and effective. It was fun!
Holy Priest was killing it and it was the 1st time I’d switched from Disc for PvP, so it was memorable to me, my other Priest buddy stayed Disc and I left him in the dust, we had a ton of fun and I PvP’ed so much that I finally got my Bloodthirsty title.

I’m glad you enjoyed it.
But it wasn’t somehow popular because everyone felt this way. The sheer amount of rage on this forum and everywhere else over having to run BGs for that cloak was astounding.
I am the 200th post! BOW BEFORE ME!
