This is a rethinking of the theory that the world soul can become anything.
Theory:
The world “soul” isn’t even real. Just a powerful fountain. Much like the Sunwell, Nightwell etc. It can be converted into different powers like light and dark. It’s the biggest one and deep in the center. And nothing more.
It’s not even that crucial to the planet, just something for cosmic entities to feed on.
That’s why everyone wants it from N’Zoth to Titans. It’s all a huge lie to get at the ultimate power well. Even the Legion used the Sunwell. Everyone can use it. Except us mortals because we don’t care about cosmic 3d chess games.
We know the Sunwell had an avatar, Anveena, who was able to talk. The “world soul” could even be the source for the Well of Eternity, Sunwell, Nightwell etc.
This ties the world soul saga in with the Sunwell in the next expansion. It bubbled up to the surface to create the Well of Eternity, which later was the source for the Sunwell. But that is only a fraction of the ultimate power below.
The final boss of the saga is a brand new titan birthing out of the well like Kil’jaedan coming out of the Sunwell. If he succeeds the world “soul”(fountain) is corrupted into order and the world will wither and die without the energy.

Argus seems to be a Genuine World Souls. That said Azeroth could be a Zereth(A-Zereth) which could be converted into a Titan-creator by the Titans who would want to create something better than what Zereth Ordus can create.
Xal’atath on the other hand would want to create a Zereth Void in order to spawn Void Lords into the Great Dark Beyond.
The Void Lords already have a Titan in the Great Dark Beyond as of K’aresh so all they need is a Zereth in the Great Dark Beyond capable of producing a powerful Void Lord there.
I dont know what a zereth is, is it something from Shadowlands?
Yes. Zereth Mortis(the Zereth of the Realms of Death) for example creates all the Afterlives of the Shadowlands as well as placed the Souls of the Eternal Ones into Robots.
Zereth Ordus according to Odyn granted the Titans wonders.
I have no doubt Zereth Ordus gave the Titans the ability to merge with Worlds.
Azeroth being A-Zereth would have a lot of power itself and the Void Lords would want it more than they would want a Titan!
As for why Azeroth’s Song resembles Argus’s: It is probably the Song of the First Ones which is sang by the Oracles lurking around Zereth Mortis. All the Zereths probably sing the Song of the First Ones who plugged their Machines into them.
I have been wondering about this.
Where does the nomenclature of “world soul” come from? Who uses it? What does it even mean?
And that makes me wonder - could a group of Warlocks remove the World Soul, put it in a big gem, and then stick it into another planet? Like if Azeroth’s body is dying, or if the Void takes hold of the planet, could that be a thing that is done? Placing the world soul in some gem and fleeing?
And just as I was typing that, I started thinking about that big crystal in the next expac.

One thing we know.
There is something at the core of Azeroth, something sentient but not awake, with a will of her own.

I still assume it’s something physical if the old gods are attached to the worldsoul.
