LFR isn’t the reason ilvl has inflated, though. Have you looked at world quest rewards recently? Or benthic gear? That stuff is super easy to get and better than anything in LFR.
“Gearscare” was totally a thing; RaiderIO is vastly better than that old system, though.
You’re not wrong that there are many different sources; I’m just saying that LFR is one of them.
Blizzard needs to rethink their gearing system, generally.
Still breeds elitism and exclusion, which autoqueue systems help prevent.
Actually they wouldn’t. A lot of people would just find a better game.
Please define “elitism”.
Perhaps, I don’t use IO so I cannot comment. Hardcore progression is a past life for me.
However, you need to understand the fundamentals of WOW. Wow was always the casual game available to all. That is the core of it. Always has been.
Elitism, and restrictive access to content is detrimental to the game. Always. No matter what your particular preferences or availability is for the most difficult content.
People acting like they’re better than others simply because they are at an advantage in terms of being able to run content.
Sounds like a way to get some tanks.
Give mages a tank spec and ill do it myself.
The problem, Kalli, is that you need to understand the fundamentals of WOW. Whether it was raiding, PVP, RP, or whatever, WOW was always many different games to many different people. That is the core of it. Always has been.
Again with this word.
People use this a lot, with many varying meanings. What do you mean by this, exactly?
Better how?
Better players? Yes. Some people are better than others at this game. The guys in Method, or PVP Gladiators, or whoever else are better than you and me; we may better than someone else. That isn’t elitism; that’s being elite.
Better people? No. Just because someone runs high level dungeons than you doesn’t mean that they are a better person.
So, again, what you mean by elitism? Do you mean being turned away based on something outside of your control? Or turned away, period?
I mean people lording their ability to get into the dungeons over the poor shmucks like me who struggle to even get a group together.
I remember clearly the days where folks got to feel big just riding by me on the way to Magisters Terrace while all I could do was daily quest #753.
“Just make your own group” is elitism. It’s a thing called gatekeeping. Because it’s much much easier for some people to get invited to groups than others. I’m betting you are okay with that, but fact is it’s still elitism whether you deny it is or not.
I would never run instanced group content ever again (until I could later solo it). As it is, I still have to wait in queues for over 2 hours to run some Legion dungeons that are no longer current content.
I didn’t run any group content during my month of Classic because making/finding a group during convenient times for me was such a pain in the behind. Please, keep the anti-LFD/LFR in Classic where it belongs.
“This issue doesn’t affect me, therefore it doesn’t exist. I support for a system that continues to cater to me and marginalizes others; instead of a system that doesn’t affect me but helps the majority.”
Can’t make it more clear.
There was nothing fun about sitting in trade for hours. Quit with this notion. Stop parroting streamers with terrible advice on how to run the game.
I’m not saying this didn’t happen (because people can be dicks), but did they say something as they rode past? Can you give an example of them lording their ability to get into dungeons over you?
How is asking someone to make their own groups elitist?
I’m not trying to trap you; I’m legitimately asking why you think this is the case.
Cool.
By your definition, the people who say that removing or changing LFR and LFD would be good for the game as a whole aren’t being elitist.
You are going to a great deal of effort to assume the motivations of others, which they have not expressed.
I literally just said it. It’s called gatekeeping. Elitism is caused when there is a group of people who are keeping others out. Whether it’s ilvl, raider IO, or simply what class/spec you play.
Am I asking that everyone has to invite everyone else to their groups? No. But you asked what elitism is.
Removing LFD would just cause that problem to get even worse. Because for a lot of people, that’s their only way to find groups. It is elitism to remove it, because you are keeping people out from being able to do group content.
Ranged from straight up comments “lol ur still trying to get a group look at what i just got” to what I know was people just feeling big in that they had a group and I didnt.
